Okay, here is my sharing about the fire dragon fruit:
So, I was at the grocery store the other day, just doing my usual thing, when I saw this weird-looking fruit. It was bright pink with these green scales all over it. It caught my eyes for sure! I found out it was called a “dragon fruit,” which sounded pretty cool, and then I know there are two kinds of it one is white one is red. But I saw another name “fire dragon fruit”, which made me feel confused, so I decided to buy one and give it a try.
When I got home, I cut the thing open. The inside was all white with tiny black seeds, just like kiwi. It was pretty soft and juicy when I touched it. I took a bite, and honestly, it was kind of bland. It was a little sweet, a little refreshing, but not much flavor at all. It was kind of like a mix between a kiwi and a pear, but way milder. I read online that some dragon fruits have red flesh inside, so maybe those have a stronger taste? I will try to get one next time!
- Picked up a dragon fruit at the store
- Cut it open and found white flesh with black seeds
- Tasted it, and it was pretty bland
- Wondering if the red-fleshed ones taste different
I did some more searching on the internet and found out that this dragon fruit thing is actually called “pitaya” sometimes. Some people say it is all-natural and got a unique flavor profile. I guess it just depends on what you are used to. This tropical thing sure is special, and it looks awesome, but I am not sure I am sold on the taste yet.
I also read that the texture can change depending on how ripe it is. Maybe I just got a dud? I am thinking I will give it another shot. Maybe I will try to find a red-fleshed one, or let this one sit on the counter for a few days and see if it gets any sweeter. Some folks online made it into a juice drink and said it’s impossibly light and refreshing, they named it “Snapple Elements Fire”. I do not have the same feeling, it’s so hard to describe, it’s just too subtle and delicate for me.
My Dragon Fruit Experience
- Intrigued by the fruit’s appearance
- Bought one to try
- Discovered a mild, subtle flavor
- Considering trying a red-fleshed variety or a riper fruit
Anyway, that’s my story about the fire dragon fruit. It was a fun little experiment, but I am not sure it’s going to become my new favorite fruit or something. Have any of you guys tried it? What did you think? Let me know in the comments!
