Okay, so I’ve been seeing a lot of chatter online about Fred Couples and his gear for 2024, right? It got me curious, so I went down a rabbit hole to find out what he’s really using. I mean, the guy’s a legend, a former World No. 1, and he’s still killin’ it out there. So, I decided to dig in and find out more about it.
I started off just browsing around, reading comments and forums. People were saying all sorts of things. Some folks were saying he had a Taylormade Stealth 5 or 7 wood in his bag at the SAS Championship. Others were wondering about what clubs he used to win the whole thing! It was a bit of a mess, but hey, that’s the internet for you.
Digging Deeper
Then I found this little video clip of Couples himself talking about his clubs while playing Pebble Beach. Turns out, the longest iron he carries is a 7-iron! Can you believe that? I mean, I can barely hit my 7-iron, let alone make it my longest iron.
I kept searching, trying to piece it all together. I found out that his golf balls, he’s using Bridgestone’s Tour B RXS. Apparently, these are low-compression balls, and a lot of average golfers like me could benefit from them. I made a mental note to check those out later.
My Conclusion
So, what did I figure out after all this? Well, it looks like Fred Couples is still a force to be reckoned with, even at 63 years old. He’s still making the cut at the Masters, which is insane! His bag is an interesting mix, showing that he values feel and control over just raw distance. It seems like he has a TaylorMade Stealth wood and is still using a 7-iron as his longest iron. Bridgestone’s Tour B RXS golf balls are his choice.
It was a fun little investigation. It just goes to show that even the legends are always tweaking and finding what works best for them. And who knows, maybe I’ll try out some of his gear choices and see if it helps my game. Maybe not, but it’s worth a shot, right?
