Okay, so I’ve been messing around with my putting lately, and it’s been, well, a rollercoaster. One day I’m sinking everything, the next I couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn. I figured it was time for a change, and that’s when I stumbled upon these “fatso” putter grips.

Getting Started
I did some quick looking around on the interwebs, looked at some reviews, and figured, why not? I ordered one online – a pretty standard, oversized grip, nothing too crazy. It arrived a few days later, and I was itching to get it on my putter.
The Installation Process
- First things first, I had to get the old grip off. This was a bit of a struggle. I used a utility knife (carefully!) to slice down the length of the old grip. It was pretty stuck on there, so I had to work it a bit, twisting and pulling.
- Finally, it came off! Underneath was a bunch of old, sticky tape. I peeled off as much as I could, then used some grip solvent to get rid of the rest. It made a bit of a mess, but hey, that’s DIY for you.
- Next, I applied new double-sided grip tape to the putter shaft. I wrapped it around, making sure it was nice and smooth, no wrinkles.
- Then came the tricky part – putting the new grip on. I poured some grip solvent inside the new grip, swished it around, then poured some more over the tape.
- Quickly, I slid the new grip onto the shaft. It was a tight fit, but I managed to get it all the way on. I aligned it the way I wanted, then let it dry overnight.
The Results
The next day, I took my newly-gripped putter to the practice green. And honestly? It felt weird at first. Really weird. Like holding a baseball bat or something. But after a few putts, I started to get used to it.
The bigger grip definitely changed my stroke. It felt like it took my wrists out of the equation, forcing me to use my shoulders more. My putting became more consistent. Not perfect, mind you, but definitely better. I was making more of those short putts, the ones that really matter.
I still use it.
