They were throwing around figures like $1 million on the low end, all the way up to a crazy $7.5 million a year for the top dogs. The range is huge, right? Seems like it all boils down to experience. The seasoned GMs, the guys who’ve been around the block a few times, they’re obviously raking it in. The newbies? Well, they gotta prove themselves first, naturally.
Then I went a bit deeper. I found out that these GMs, they’re not just sitting around watching games. They’re responsible for everything! I mean, player contracts, hiring and firing coaches, dealing with the media circus… Some of them even handle the team’s money and marketing stuff. It’s a high-pressure gig, no doubt about it.
I also learned that there’s something called a salary floor and a salary cap. It was pretty hard to find the details on these. From what I read, the teams don’t always use all the money they are allowed. Makes sense, I guess. Gotta keep those owners happy, right?
