Okay, so I was messing around with this “crossword protected” thing today, and let me tell you, it was a bit of a journey. Started out pretty simple, you know?

Getting Started
First, I grabbed a regular crossword puzzle, just a printed one I had lying around. Nothing fancy. Then, I thought, “How can I make this thing tougher to crack without actually changing the clues?”
My First (Failed) Attempts
- I tried covering the filled-in squares with tape. Total disaster. You could still see through it, and it just made the whole thing sticky.
- Then I thought about using white-out. Nope. Too messy, and it took forever to dry. Plus, it made the paper all bumpy.
The “Aha!” Moment
So, I’m sitting there, staring at this messed-up crossword, and it hits me. I remembered I had some of that transparent, colored plastic – you know, the kind you use for report covers? I grabbed a red one.
I cut the plastic sheet to the size of the crossword grid. Then, I carefully placed it over the completed puzzle.
It Worked!
Boom! It actually worked! The red plastic obscured the black ink of the filled-in squares just enough. You could still kind of see the grid lines, but the answers were way harder to make out. It’s like it added a layer of visual “noise,”.
It is diffcult to see the answer now.

It is not perfect, but it worked for me.
