Okay, let’s talk about “soccer field size vs football”. I got curious about this the other day, so I did a little digging and playing around to see the differences for myself.

First, I hit up the internet. I just wanted some basic info to start with. I found out pretty quickly that both fields are rectangles, which, duh, I already knew. And they both use grass or that fake turf stuff. But here’s the kicker: soccer fields are actually bigger than football fields. I mean, it makes sense if you’ve ever watched both sports, but I wanted the actual numbers.
So, I kept searching and found some measurements. Apparently, a soccer field can be anywhere from 100 to 130 yards long and 50 to 100 yards wide. That’s a pretty big range!
I decided to try and visualize this, I grabbed some measuring tape and went outside to my backyard.
My Backyard Experiment
- I measured out a 100 yard and try my best to make it a rectangular, it’s almost the length of my entire backyard.
- Then, I paced out 50 yards,That’s the mininum width I searched online.
- I did’t go to a real soccer neither football field. I just marked out the corners with some random stuff I found in the garage.
Honestly, it looked huge! Just pacing it out made me realize how much running those soccer players *, they have to be in great shape.

So, to get a good look at this thing, I climbed up on my daughter’s small slide in our backyard. It’s really help me see how much bigger a soccer field can be. After all the measurements, I have a clear image in my mind:soccer field is way much bigger, it’s really a lot of runing during the game!
