You know that Jared McCain, that boy plays basketball, yeah, he’s somethin’ else. Now he’s gettin’ all sorts of NIL deals, makin’ a pile of money, I hear. Good for him, I say. He’s a good boy, that Jared.
This whole NIL deal thing is newfangled, ain’t it? Back in my day, you played ’cause you loved the game. Now, these kids, they get paid for their name, picture, and what not, image and likeness or whatever they call it. Times sure have changed.
They say this Jared boy, he’s got a deal with that Jordan fella, the one who used to play basketball. Jordan Brand, they call it. Fancy shoes and clothes, I reckon. He’s gonna be strutting around like a peacock, mark my words. Probably worth a good chunk of money, too, over $1 million I hear.

- All sorts of companies wantin’ him to wear their stuff.
And get this, he even got a deal with some nail polish company! Can you believe it? Sally Hansen, I think it was. He likes to paint his nails, you see. Well, I never! But hey, if it makes him happy and brings in some money, who am I to judge? Just like that Duke player, Cooper Flagg, signed with Gatorade. That’s good money, I reckon.
He’s a star now, that Jared. Playin’ for Duke, that’s a big deal, you know. They say he is the only second men’s college basketball player to have that much money. And now he’s gonna be in the big leagues, the NBA draft, they call it. He’s gonna be a professional, makin’ the big bucks.
I remember when he was just a little tyke, runnin’ around, dribblin’ that ball. Now look at him, all grown up and famous. It’s somethin’ to see, I tell ya.
This NIL deal, it’s a good thing for these young folks, I suppose. Gives ’em a chance to make some money while they’re playin’. Back in my day, we didn’t have nothin’ like that. We worked hard, played hard, and that was that.
But these kids today, they got it different. They got sponsors and endorsements, makin’ money left and right. It’s a whole new world, I tell ya. These NIL opportunities are everywhere now.

- They get paid just for bein’ who they are.
It’s a lot of money, though. I hope these young folks know how to handle it. Money can change a person, you know. It can make ’em forget where they came from.
But this Jared boy, he seems like a good one. He seems grounded, despite all the fame and fortune. I hope he stays that way. This Jared, he is going to be the first pick in the NBA draft next year, they say!
He’s got a good head on his shoulders, that one. He’s gonna go far, I reckon. And with all these NIL deals, he’s gonna be set for life. Good for him, I say. He deserves it.
