So, I went down a bit of a rabbit hole the other day. Started off looking into Arthur Ashe, the tennis legend, just remembering his story. And while I was doing that, the name Jeanne Moutoussamy-Ashe kept coming up alongside his.
Naturally, I got curious. Who was she? Just the wife? Or more to it? So, I started digging around specifically about her. Didn’t take long to see there was definitely more to her story.

And here’s a detail that really stuck with me. They adopted a daughter in December 1986. Her name? Camera. Yeah, you read that right. Camera Elizabeth Ashe. Named right after her mom’s profession. Can’t say I’ve heard that one before. She’s their only kid, apparently. From what little I could gather, Camera keeps a pretty private life these days, stays out of the public eye.
