Alright, let’s gab a bit about this Joel Dahmen fella and his putter. You know, that stick he uses to knock the ball into the hole. Golf, they call it. Seems like a lot of fuss over a little stick, if you ask me.
Now, I hear tell these young fellas are always changin’ their putters. Always lookin’ for somethin’ better, somethin’ that’ll make that little ball go in the hole easier. Like them fancy greens, they say they’re smoother now, faster. So, they need a heavier putter, somethin’ they can swing smoother, longer-like.
- Heavier putter
- Smoother swing
- Faster greens
This one fella, Morikawa, he switched putters his whole career. Says he likes how the ball rolls off the face of this new one. Well, I reckon that’s important, ain’t it? Gotta get that ball rollin’ right if you wanna win, I guess. But honestly, it all sounds like a bunch of hooey to me. Back in my day, you used what you had and you made it work. No fancy this, no fancy that.
They say puttin’ is important, that it can help you get a lower score. Well, no duh! If you can’t get the ball in the hole, you ain’t gonna win, that’s for sure. But these amateurs, they don’t practice enough, that’s the problem. Always fussin’ over their equipment instead of just hittin’ the dang ball.
Now, this Joel Dahmen, he got himself into a pickle, didn’t he? Seems he had too many clubs in his bag. Fourteen’s the limit, I hear. And they penalized him for it! Four strokes! That’s a lot of strokes, even I know that. Imagine goin’ to all that trouble and then gettin’ dinged for somethin’ silly like that. Shows you gotta pay attention, even to the little things.
Then there’s this talk about him representin’ some company, PxG. People sayin’ he ain’t the type to do that. Well, I don’t know nothin’ about that. Seems like these companies are always tryin’ to get these fellas to use their stuff. Money, I guess. It’s all about the money these days, ain’t it?
And this Tom Kim fella, he’s switchin’ putters too. Likes them Scotty Cameron ones, they say. Custom blades. Sounds fancy. But like I said, it’s all about findin’ somethin’ that works for you, I reckon. Whether it’s fancy or plain, if it gets the ball in the hole, that’s all that matters.
Joel Dahmen, he was tryin’ to get his card for next year, had to make a putt to make the cut. Five and a half feet, they said. That ain’t much, but I bet it felt like a mile to him. Pressure, you know? These fellas, they play under a lot of pressure. Gotta make them putts when it counts.
So, this putter thing, it’s a big deal to these golfers. They’re always tinkerin’, always lookin’ for an edge. Me? I think they worry too much. Just get up there and hit the ball! But what do I know? I’m just an old woman who’s seen a thing or two. But one thing’s for sure, whether it’s Joel Dahmen or some other fella, that little stick is mighty important in this game of golf.
And that’s about all I got to say about Joel Dahmen and his putter. It’s a game, plain and simple. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. And sometimes, you just gotta laugh and move on.
