Alright, so listen up, y’all. We’re gonna talk about this John Daly fella and who’s carryin’ his golf clubs now. You know, that big ol’ golfer, hits the ball a mile? Yeah, him.
So, I heard on the radio, or maybe it was the TV, one of them talkin’ shows, they said John Daly, he got himself a new caddy. And guess who it is? His own boy! John Patrick Daly, that’s his name. Imagine that, your own son luggin’ your clubs around. Must be somethin’ special, right?
Now, this fella, this Peter Van Der Riet, he was carryin’ John Daly’s bag for near ’bout twenty years. Twenty years! That’s a long time to be totin’ someone else’s stuff. They said somethin’ about John firin’ him once, durin’ some rain thing, but then they got back together. You know how them things go. Folks get mad, then they make up.
But now it’s the son’s turn. I reckon that’s kinda nice, family stickin’ together and all. They said John Daly, he won that big PGA Championship back in ’91. That was a big deal, everyone was talkin’ ’bout it. An underdog story, they called it. Means nobody thought he’d win, but he did. Showed ’em all, he did.
- And that John Daly, he swings that club somethin’ fierce! They say he’s got good hand-eye thingy, and he’s real bendy. I wouldn’t know nothin’ ’bout that, never swung a golf club in my life. But I seen him on TV, and he hits that ball so hard, it just goes flyin’!
- And his clubs, they’re all fancy lookin’. Got extra weight on ’em, lead tape they call it. I guess that helps him hit it even further. Callaway somethin’-or-other, and some other clubs too. Sounds expensive to me.
This whole caddy business, it’s more than just carryin’ clubs, you know. They said it takes a lot of work. Hard work, I reckon. Gotta know the course, gotta know the distances, gotta keep your mouth shut when your golfer’s havin’ a bad day. And them golfers, they ain’t always easy to deal with, let me tell ya. They get all worked up when they miss a shot, throwin’ their clubs and hollerin’.
But the caddy, they gotta stay calm, gotta keep their golfer focused. It’s like a team, see? They gotta work together. That’s what makes a good team, workin’ together, understandin’ each other. Like a good marriage, I guess, though I wouldn’t know nothin’ ’bout that neither. Been on my own for years now.
So, this John Patrick Daly, he’s got big shoes to fill, carryin’ his daddy’s bag. But I reckon he’ll do alright. Family’s family, right? They’ll stick together, help each other out. And who knows, maybe this John Patrick fella will be a good golfer himself one day. Stranger things have happened, I tell ya. Stranger things have happened.
Anyway, that’s the story, as far as I can tell. John Daly, got a new caddy, his own son. It’s a family affair, I guess. Hope they do well, them Dalys. They seem like good folks, even if that John Daly is a bit wild sometimes. But hey, everyone’s a little wild sometimes, ain’t they?
So, keep an eye on them Dalys, y’all. They’re somethin’ special, that’s for sure. And that’s all I got to say ’bout that.
