So, I was thinking about some of the great golfers the other day, and Jose Maria Olazabal popped into my head. You know, two-time Masters champ, incredible short game. It got me wondering what tools he actually uses out there on the course these days. What’s in the bag, right? Ollie’s been around a while, seen equipment change drastically, so I figured it’d be interesting to see what he’s settled on.

Naturally, I hopped online to do a bit of digging. You type in “Jose Maria Olazabal WITB” or something similar. It wasn’t exactly straightforward, gotta say. You find bits and pieces here and there, some articles are older, some photos aren’t super clear. You sort of have to piece it together like a little puzzle.
After clicking around for a bit, checking a few golf forums and equipment sites, a general picture started to form. It seems like he sticks with what works for him, maybe not always the absolute latest bleeding-edge stuff across the board, which I kind of appreciate.
Okay, so here’s the breakdown of what I managed to gather, based on my little search session. Keep in mind, this stuff can change, but this seems to be the general setup he’s been seen with recently.
Driver
Looked like he was gaming a TaylorMade driver. Maybe something like a SIM or Stealth model, but hard to be 100% certain from the pictures I saw. Seemed like a fairly standard setup for a tour pro.
Fairway Woods
Again, TaylorMade seemed to be the choice here. Usually, these guys carry a 3-wood, sometimes a 5-wood depending on the course. Ollie’s probably got a trusty setup he relies on for those long fairway shots.

Irons
This was interesting. For years, he was known for his Titleist blades, those classic MBs. More recently, it looks like he might have transitioned to something from TaylorMade as well, possibly some P-series irons. Maybe the P7MBs or a combo set. Makes sense, a lot of guys eventually look for a tiny bit more forgiveness, even the best ball strikers.
Wedges
Now, this is where Ollie is legendary. His short game is just magical. For the longest time, he used those custom non-branded wedges, sometimes mentioned as artisan-made. Recently, I saw reports mentioning Titleist Vokey wedges, which are obviously super popular. He probably carries three or four, covering different lofts for all those touch shots around the green. Precision tools for a master craftsman.
Putter
His putter seemed to be a Titleist Scotty Cameron Newport style. A classic blade design. Makes sense, requires a pure stroke, and Ollie’s always had great touch on the greens.
So, that’s the gist of what I found regarding Jose Maria Olazabal’s bag. It’s a mix of modern tech, especially in the woods and maybe irons, but still relying on classic designs like his putter and, of course, those crucial wedges. It’s always cool to see what gear players with such amazing careers trust week in and week out. Just goes to show, it’s about finding what works for your game.
