Okay, so I’ve been really getting into tracking athlete stats lately, and I stumbled upon this guy, Josh Allen. I heard he’s a beast, so I figured, why not try to run like him? I mean, how hard could it be to copy a 40-yard dash, right?
First things first, I needed a place to run. I found this local track that was pretty much empty. Perfect for not embarrassing myself too much in front of a crowd. I brought my phone, a stopwatch app, and my trusty running shoes. I figured I should warm up a bit, so I did a few light jogs up and down the track. Nothing fancy, just trying to get the blood flowing.
Now for the real deal. I set up my phone to record, not sure why, maybe to prove I actually did it? I lined myself up at the start line, took a deep breath, and just went for it. I pushed off as hard as I could and ran like there was no tomorrow.
The First Attempt
- Started strong, felt pretty good.
- Midway, started feeling the burn.
- Finished, completely out of breath.
I stopped the timer, and man, I was gassed. I checked the time, and let’s just say it wasn’t anywhere close to what the pros do. It was a reality check, that’s for sure. But hey, I wasn’t giving up that easily.
I took a few minutes to catch my breath, chugged some water, and tried to analyze what went wrong. Maybe I didn’t push off hard enough? Maybe my form was off? I watched a few videos of Allen running, trying to pick up some tips. It looked so effortless when he did it.
Round Two
- Focused on pushing off harder.
- Tried to keep my strides longer.
- Still felt like I was running through mud.
I gave it another go, and honestly, it felt a bit better. I was definitely pushing myself harder, but my legs felt like lead. I checked the time again, and I shaved off a little bit, but still, nothing to brag about. It was way harder than it looked. This time I was really winded, so I had to take a longer break.
The Final Try
- Gave it my all, one last time.
- Felt a slight improvement in speed.
- Realized I’m not Josh Allen.
One last try. I really focused on my form this time, trying to mimic what I saw in the videos. I ran as fast as my body would allow, and at this point, I was just happy to be done. I checked the time, and it was marginally better than the second try. Progress, I guess? But, it was clear that I’m no NFL quarterback.
So, there you have it. My attempt to replicate Josh Allen’s 40-yard dash. It was a humbling experience, to say the least. These athletes are on a whole different level. I gained a new appreciation for their speed and conditioning. As for me, I think I’ll stick to watching from the sidelines. Maybe I’ll work on my jogging instead. A slow jog seems much more my speed now.
