Man, I’ve been wanting to get a little heater for my garage for a while now. It gets freezing out there in the winter, and sometimes I just want to tinker around without my fingers going numb. So, I finally pulled the trigger and picked up this King Yellow Jacket Mini heater I saw online. Seemed like a decent deal, and the reviews weren’t half bad.
First thing I did was unpack the thing. It’s pretty small, which is good, doesn’t take up much space. It is called a “mini” heater, after all. The yellow color is kinda bright, but hey, it’s a garage heater, not a fashion statement. It’s got this metal body, feels pretty solid, not like some of those cheap plastic ones that feel like they’re gonna melt.
Next, I found an outlet in the corner of my garage and plugged it in. It’s got a decent-length cord, about six feet, so I could move it around a bit if I needed to. There’s a little on/off switch on the back. Also there is a built-in thermostat, that is what I noticed when I turned it on.
Flipped the switch, and it started blowing warm air pretty much right away. It has a simple thermostat knob on it, so I just cranked it up to see what it could do. It’s not gonna heat up the whole garage to like 70 degrees, I only need it to warm up a small area, but it definitely took the edge off the cold.
- Started using it while working on my car.
- Positioned it to blow warm air where I was working.
- Worked like a charm, kept my hands from freezing.
Conclusion
Honestly, for a little garage heater, this thing does the trick. I wouldn’t rely on it to heat a huge space, but for a small area, it’s perfect. No complaints so far, and it’s a heck of a lot better than freezing my butt off in the garage all winter!
I also did some research about electric furnaces, generally, they are safer because there is no CO poisoning risk, but it still poses a fire risk, and it has higher monthly costs, infrared heaters are most efficient, they are safe to use and use very little electricity to generate heat. I think I made a good decision to buy the mini heater, the price is also affordable.
