Okay, so today I was digging around the internet, you know, just killing time, and I stumbled upon something that kinda blew my mind. It’s about Larry Bird’s daughter, Corrie Bird, and Sue Bird, the WNBA legend. I always thought there might be a connection, given the same last name and, well, basketball, obviously! So, I decided to do some deep diving and this is what I have done.

My Research Journey
First things first, I hit up Google. Just a simple search: “larry bird daughter sue bird”. The initial results were a mixed bag. Some forums and articles were speculating, others were saying straight-up “no relation.”
Then I started to filter through it. I focused on reliable sources, like, you know, not just random blog comments.
Getting to the Bottom of It
I spent a good hour going through different websites. Here is my process:
- Started Broad: Basic Google search to see what the general consensus was.
- Narrowed Down: Focused on sports news sites, biographies, and official WNBA/NBA stuff.
- Cross-Referenced: I looked at multiple sources to make sure the information lined up.
The more reliable stuff I found pointed to Corrie Bird being Larry’s actual daughter. I looked at some family history stuff too, just to be extra sure.
Then I turned my attention to Sue Bird. Found her official bio, interviews, and articles about her career. No mention of Larry anywhere.

After all that digging, it became pretty clear. While the “Bird” name and basketball talent might make you think otherwise, Sue Bird and Larry Bird are NOT related. Corrie Bird is confirmed to be Larry’s daughter, but Sue’s a totally separate (and awesome) story.
It was a fun little research rabbit hole to fall down, though! I love how the internet lets you explore these random connections and questions. Sometimes you find a surprise, and sometimes you just confirm what you already suspected.
