Okay, so I’ve been messing around with sports predictions lately, just for fun, you know? And today’s little project was trying to figure out the likely winner between Long Beach State and Iona. It’s not exactly rocket science, but it’s a fun way to kill some time and maybe, just maybe, learn a thing or two.
First, I started by just looking at their recent games. You know, who did they play, did they win or lose? Did it seem that they were on a winning streak or a losing one? Basic stuff like that. It’s like reading the tea leaves, except the tea leaves are basketball scores.
Then, I dug a bit deeper. I started comparing their scores against the same teams. Did one team do better than the other against a common opponent? That sometimes gives you a hint, right? If one team beat someone like 80-60, and the other team just barely squeezed by, 75-74 against the same opponent, that’s gonna tell you something.
- I started looking at who was playing home vs. away.
- Checked out if any key players were injured or something.
- Then I looked at some recent wins and losses.
After gathering all this, I tried to make a guess, based purely on my gut feeling after going through all these numbers. And for this Long Beach State vs. Iona game, I ended up leaning towards one team. It was a close call, but after all that, my gut told me one of them had a slightly better chance.
Finally, I wrote down my prediction, just to see if I’ll be right. I will wait for the game day and see what happens. It’s all just a bit of fun, but hey, who knows, maybe I’ll actually get good at this prediction thing one day!
