Alright, so I wanted to get the lowdown on the player stats from the Cincinnati Reds vs. New York Yankees game recently. I didn’t catch the whole thing live, so I needed to see who did what.

First thing I did was grab my phone. I usually check one of the big sports websites, the ones that cover everything. Fired up the browser and went straight there. Navigated over to the baseball section, MLB scores specifically.
Found the game listing, Reds at Yankees, or maybe it was Yankees at Reds, depends where they played I guess. Anyway, clicked on the scoreline. That usually just gives you the basics, like the final score and maybe who got the win and loss for the pitchers.
But I needed the player details. Had to look around the page a bit. Sometimes there’s a tab or a link that says ‘Box Score’ or ‘Gamecast’ or ‘Full Stats’, something like that. Found it and tapped through.
Okay, now we’re talking. This new page had way more info. It usually breaks it down by team.
Digging into the Numbers
First, I checked out the batting stats. I wanted to see:

- Who got hits (H)
- How many runs (R) each player scored
- Runs batted in (RBI)
- Any home runs (HR)? Always curious about the long ball.
- Strikeouts (K) and walks (BB) too, gives you a better picture.
I scrolled through the lineup for both the Reds and the Yankees. Looked for the key players, see if they had a good or bad day at the plate. Sometimes you see a guy went like 0-for-4 with 3 strikeouts, rough day. Other times someone’s lighting it up with multiple hits.
After checking the hitters, I moved on to the pitching stats. This is crucial too. Needed to know who started, how long they lasted (Innings Pitched – IP), how many hits and runs they gave up (H, R, ER – Earned Runs specifically). And of course, strikeouts (K) and walks (BB) for the pitchers are super important.
Checked the starter for each team and then looked at the relief pitchers who came in later. Sometimes the bullpen action tells the real story of the game.
Took a few minutes of clicking and scrolling, but I eventually got all the player-specific numbers I was after. It wasn’t too complicated, just had to navigate the site a bit to get past the main score summary to the detailed box score. Pretty standard process once you know where to look.
