Alright, so today I wanted to figure out who was calling the Alabama game. You know, sometimes you just wanna know whose voices you’ll be listening to for the next few hours, right? It’s part of the whole game day ritual for me.

First thing I usually do is pretty simple: just turn on the TV a bit early. I flipped over to the channel listed for the game – I think it was ESPN today, or maybe CBS, depends on the matchup. I watched the pre-game stuff for a little while, hoping they’d flash the announcers’ names on the screen like they sometimes do. Didn’t see it right away, maybe I tuned in too late or they just hadn’t shown it yet.
So, plan B. I grabbed my phone. My go-to move is just firing up a web search. I typed in something straightforward, like “Alabama football game commentators today” or sometimes “announcer crew Alabama vs [Opponent Team]”.
Got a bunch of results back pretty quick. Some were just general game previews, score predictions, stuff like that. I had to skim through a bit, looking for articles specifically mentioning the broadcast team. Usually, big sites like ESPN’s own website, or maybe CBS Sports, sometimes even local Alabama news sites that cover the Tide heavily, will have a post detailing the TV info, including the commentators. Found an article pretty quickly from one of the major sports networks. It listed the play-by-play guy, the color analyst, and the sideline reporter.
Just to be sure, sometimes I double-check. If I have a sports app on my phone, like the ESPN app or maybe The Score, I’ll open that up too. I navigated to the college football section, found the Alabama game listing. Often, if you tap into the game details, scrolling down past the stats and odds, you’ll find the broadcast information listed there as well. Yep, the names matched what the article said.
Occasionally, if I’m striking out, I might even peek at Twitter, searching the game hashtag or checking the official network’s sports account. People often tweet out the announcer crews right before the game starts. But today, the web search and the app check did the trick pretty fast.

So yeah, that was it. Took maybe five minutes total. Found out who was in the booth and on the sidelines. Now I knew who I’d be hearing call the Roll Tide game. Simple process, really, just takes a little digging sometimes. Glad I got it sorted before kickoff.
