Alright, so I had this wild idea to make something I called “lordly trashcan dewlight pavilion.” Sounds fancy, right? Well, it all started with this beat-up old trashcan I found by the side of the road.

The Beginning
First, I hosed the thing down. You wouldn’t believe the gunk that came off. Seriously, it was nasty. Once it was relatively clean, I took it to my backyard “workshop” – basically just a corner of the yard where I do my DIY stuff.
Giving It Shape
- I grabbed some scrap wood I had lying around from an old project.
- Then, I started cutting and screwing the wood together to make a sort of frame around the trashcan. Think of it like a little gazebo, but for a trashcan.
- It wasn’t perfect, mind you. The wood was all different sizes, and my carpentry skills are, let’s just say, “rustic.” But hey, it was starting to take shape!
The “Dewlight” Part
This is where things got interesting. I had these solar-powered garden lights that I’d bought on sale a while back. So I decided to incorporate them into the design.
- I drilled some holes in the wooden frame and stuck the lights in.
- Wound them in place to keep them from just floppin’ around.
Finishing Touches
Once the lights were in, I gave the whole thing a coat of paint. I went with a dark green to kind of blend in with the garden. And that was pretty much it!
The Result
It’s not exactly what you’d call “lordly,” but it’s definitely unique. My “lordly trashcan dewlight pavilion” now sits in my garden, the trashcan hidden inside, and the solar lights give it a nice glow at night. It’s a conversation starter, that’s for sure. I can make it shine to share for the good mood.
Maybe not my most practical project, but it was fun to build, and it keeps the raccoons out of the garbage, so that’s a win in my book!
