Alright, let’s talk about this Wuthering Waves thingy, the one they call “Lore Beyond the Ranges”. Sounds fancy, but lemme tell ya, it ain’t as complicated as them city folks make it out to be. It’s just a story, a story about a world gone topsy-turvy.
See, somethin’ real bad happened, they call it the Lament. Wiped out most of the folks, it did. Left the world a mess. And then, these things started showin’ up, real nasty creatures they are. Tacet Discords, they call ’em, TDs for short. Don’t ask me why they got such a fancy name, probably some smarty-pants in a lab coat came up with it. These TDs, they’re made of some kinda weird energy, leftovers from the Lament, I reckon. They’re always changin’, too, never the same twice.
Now, folks ain’t stupid. They figured out how to live with these TDs, built themselves new places to stay, started over. It wasn’t easy, mind you. Lost a lot of good people, they did. But they kept goin’, same as we always do. That’s what humans do, we keep on keepin’ on, even when things get tough.
- The Lament: Big disaster, wiped out almost everyone. Sounds like a real bad storm, the kind that flattens your cornfields and takes your roof with it.
- Tacet Discords (TDs): Nasty creatures made of weird energy. Like them stray dogs that get into your chicken coop, but way worse.
- Waveworn Phenomenon: Sounds like the after-effects of the Lament, the weird stuff that hangs around after the storm passes. Like when the river floods, and you gotta deal with the mud and the mess for weeks after.
So, what’s this lore all about then? Well, it’s about the world after the Lament, how folks are livin’, the troubles they’re facin’. It’s about the fight against them TDs, and how folks are tryin’ to understand this Waveworn Phenomenon thing. It’s about heroes, probably. Every story has heroes, even if they don’t wear shiny armor or ride fancy horses. Maybe they just got a good heart and a strong will, that’s all you really need, ain’t it?
They talk about civilization rebuilding, which just means folks started buildin’ houses again, plantin’ crops, makin’ stuff. Same as we always done. It ain’t rocket science, even if them city folks like to make it sound that way. You lose everything, you gotta start over. That’s just how it is.
And these TDs, they ain’t all the same. Some big, some small, some fast, some slow. They’re sentient beings, which just means they got some kinda brain in their heads, they ain’t just mindless beasts. Makes ’em even more dangerous, I reckon. Like tryin’ to outsmart a fox, instead of just shooing away a fly.
The futuristic part, well, I guess that means they got some fancy gadgets, maybe flyin’ machines or somethin’. But even with all that fancy stuff, they still gotta deal with them TDs, still gotta fight for their lives. Makes you think, don’t it? All that progress, all that technology, and still, we’re back to fightin’ for survival. Reminds me of them old stories my grandma used to tell, about the wars and the famines.
Post-apocalyptic is just a fancy way of sayin’ the world went to hell in a handbasket and folks are tryin’ to pick up the pieces. We’ve seen somethin’ like that before, after the big war, when everything was scarce and folks were suspicious of each other. It takes time, a long time, to get back to normal, if there even is such a thing as normal anymore. Maybe “normal” just means somethin’ different after somethin’ like the Lament.
This Wuthering Waves lore, it’s about more than just fightin’ monsters, though. It’s about people, how they cope, how they change, how they keep goin’ even when everything seems lost. It’s about hope, and about findin’ somethin’ worth fightin’ for, even in a world that’s been broken. It’s the same story we’ve been tellin’ ourselves for generations, just with different monsters and different gadgets.
So, that’s the gist of it, as best as I can figure. Ain’t nothin’ too complicated, just folks tryin’ to make their way in a tough world. And ain’t that always the story, one way or another?
And that’s what this “Lore Beyond the Ranges” is all about, near as I can tell. Don’t let them fancy words fool ya, it’s just a story about folks tryin’ to survive. Same as it always was, same as it always will be. Humans are stubborn creatures, we are. We keep fightin’, keep hopin’, even when things look their darkest. That’s the real lore, right there.
