Okay, so I’ve been messing around with my golf gear lately, trying to up my game, you know? And let me tell you, it’s been a journey. Recently, I got really curious about Min Woo Lee’s putter setup. I mean, the guy’s putting is nuts, so I figured I’d dive in and see what the fuss is all about.
First off, I started digging around to find out exactly what he was using. Turns out, earlier in 2024, he was using an Odyssey Ai-ONE Milled Six mallet. But then, and this is where it gets interesting, he switched it up to an Odyssey Ai-ONE #7 mallet. It’s got this fanged look to it, which honestly, I think is pretty slick.
So, I got my hands on one of these Ai-ONE #7 putters. The first thing I noticed was the face insert. Apparently, it’s designed using A.I., which sounds super high-tech, right? The whole idea is that it’s supposed to make your putts roll more consistently, no matter where you hit them on the face. I spent a good few hours just practicing, trying different strokes, hitting the ball off-center, the whole nine yards.
- Spent an entire afternoon on the putting green.
- Practiced with the new putter.
- Tried out various strokes and angles.
Then I went down the rabbit hole of Min Woo Lee’s grips. He uses a Grip Master leather grip, standard size. Got myself one of those too. Let me tell you, that leather feels really good in your hands. I spent some more time putting on my office carpet. Yep, I’m that guy now.
I tried changing other things after reading some online chatter that the guy was messing around with Callaway drivers at the end of 2023. Did it help my putting? Nope. Still, I played with a Paradym Ai Smoke Triple Diamond S driver, and a Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Triple Diamond 3-wood, just like Min Woo Lee used. It was fun, but didn’t really change my putting game.
The Results
Honestly, after all this experimenting, I can see why Min Woo Lee made the switch. This Odyssey Ai-ONE #7, with that A.I. face, it really does seem to make a difference. My putts felt more consistent, and I started sinking more of those tricky ones. I’m not saying I’m about to go pro or anything, but it definitely boosted my confidence on the green. It’s not just about the gear, of course, but finding what works for you can make a huge difference. And this putter is working for me, at least for now. I might just keep this putter in my bag for a while, see if it can help me shave a few strokes off my game.
