Okay, so I saw this thing online about Minjee Lee’s golf setup for 2023, and it got me thinking, why not try to copy it? I mean, she’s a pro, right? She won the US Women’s Open in 2022, so she must be doing something right with her clubs.
So, I started digging around. The first thing I noticed was her irons. She’s using these Srixon ZX7 MkII Irons. Apparently, she’s got the whole set, from the 5-iron all the way to the pitching wedge. I thought, “Alright, let’s start there.”
Now, I’m no pro, but I do enjoy a good round of golf. So, I went out and got myself the same set of irons. It wasn’t cheap, I’ll tell you that. But hey, I was committed. I wanted to see if using the same clubs as a pro would make a difference in my game.
Getting the Clubs
- Checked out local golf stores: First, I tried a few local golf shops, but they didn’t have the exact model.
- Found them online: Finally, I found them in an online store that specializes in golf gear.
- Placed the order: I ordered the full set, just like Minjee.
- Waited for delivery: It took a few days, but they finally arrived.
When the clubs arrived, I was like a kid on Christmas morning. I ripped open the box and there they were, shiny and new. I spent the next few days just practicing my swing in the backyard. I even set up a makeshift driving range with some old blankets and buckets.
Hitting the Course
- Booked a tee time: I booked a time at my local course.
- Headed to the range: I warmed up at the driving range before my round, got a feel for the new irons.
- Played the round: I played 18 holes, focusing on using my new irons as much as possible.
Then came the real test. I booked a tee time at my local course and headed out. I’ll be honest, at first, it didn’t feel much different. But then, as I got used to the clubs, I started noticing some changes. My shots were a bit more consistent, and I felt like I had more control over the ball. I noticed the sweet spot on the irons seemed a bit bigger, making it easier to get a good hit.
I also saw that someone named Jon Rahm, who is apparently a big deal in golf, also uses similar stuff. I don’t know much about him, but it made me feel like I was on the right track.
Now, I’m not saying I’m suddenly going to be winning any tournaments. But I did feel a difference. It’s like, when you know you’re using the same gear as someone who’s really good, it gives you a bit of a confidence boost. Plus, it’s just fun to experiment and see what works.
So, yeah, that’s my little adventure with Minjee Lee’s 2023 golf clubs. It was a fun experiment, and I learned a thing or two about my own game in the process. Who knows, maybe I’ll try copying another pro’s setup next year. It’s all part of the fun, right?
