So, I picked up MLB The Show 24 the other day, figured I’d give it a whirl since I’m a baseball fan. Starting tomorrow, I dived right in, you know?
First thing I noticed, the loading times, man. They’re slow. Like, really slow. I was trying out the “Road to the Show” mode, and it felt like it took forever just to get from the clubhouse to the game. Same thing happened when I was setting up my lineup and actually starting a game. I’m not sure if it’s only happening on the Switch or not but I’m on the Switch.
Then I started playing, and boy, did I encounter some weird stuff. The game kept crashing on my Switch console, which is a bummer. They released an update last night that was supposed to fix this, but I’m still seeing some issues. I was trying out some different modes, like the “Road to the Show” mode, the other modes, and also encounter some bugs and glitches. It can ruin my whole experience playing this game.
I was in the middle of a game, pitching with bases loaded, one out, in the fifth inning. Then, bam! Another glitch. It’s frustrating, to say the least. I’ve heard people online saying that these glitches can even mess up your franchise experience. Some folks are trying to adjust player attributes and simulate the rest of the season, but it’s still not working right.
- The loading times are so slow.
- The game is crashing sometimes.
- There’re still some bugs and glitches.
I did notice that they brought back Alex Miniak as the public address commentator, and Jon Sciambi and Chris Singleton are doing the play-by-play. Also, Dan O’Dowd and Sarah Langs are commentating in the “Road to the Show” mode. So, that’s something, I guess.
But yeah, overall, MLB The Show 24 has been a bit of a letdown so far. I mean, I missed more than 9000 shots and lost almost 300 games. I’m not sure if it’s just me, but it feels like the game’s got some issues that need to be ironed out. Hopefully, they’ll get it sorted soon, but for now, I’m not too impressed.
Oh well, tomorrow I’ll get back to it. It seems like I am gonna keep playing. We’ll see what’s new, or what’s still weird and buggy. I’ll keep y’all posted.
