Okay, here’s my blog post about messing around with the difficulty settings in MLB The Show 24:

So, I finally got my hands on MLB The Show 24, and like always, the first thing I gotta do is figure out the difficulty settings. I’m not trying to get destroyed online right away, you know? Gotta ease into it.
Finding the Sweet Spot
I started by jumping into a quick exhibition game. The default difficulty, I think it was “Beginner” or something, was way too easy. I was hitting bombs left and right, and the CPU pitcher was just lobbing meatballs over the plate. Not very realistic, and honestly, kinda boring.
I bumped it up a notch, then another, and another. There are so many options! You got your Dynamic, Beginner, Rookie, Veteran, All-Star, Hall of Fame, and Legend. I tried to use Dynamic at first, I thought that the settings will dynamically change depends on how I play, but I did not see much differences during the match.
- Beginner: Like I said, way too easy. Good for, like, your little brother who’s never played before.
- Rookie: Still pretty easy, but at least the CPU starts throwing some actual pitches.
- Veteran: This is where things started to feel a bit more challenging. I wasn’t crushing every pitch anymore.
I messed around with the hitting and pitching settings separately. I found that I’m a way better hitter than pitcher in this game (like in real life, haha). So I kept the hitting difficulty a bit lower, around Veteran, while I cranked up the pitching difficulty to All-Star.
Getting My Butt Kicked (a Little)
All-Star pitching is no joke! These guys are painting the corners, mixing up their speeds, and just generally making me look silly. I struck out way more than I’d like to admit. But hey, that’s how you get better, right? By getting your butt kicked a little.

I haven’t even touched Hall of Fame or Legend yet. I’m not ready for that kind of pain. Maybe one day, after I’ve put in, like, a thousand hours. For Now I would just stick with the All-Star settings.
But yeah, that’s how I am getting the hang of this game setting, find the best difficulty to play!
