Okay, so Week 17 is championship week for most fantasy leagues, and I was sweating bullets over my defense. I had the Rams, but they’ve been kinda shaky lately, and the Broncos? Well, they’ve been a dumpster fire, but I had a gut feeling.

First, I scoured the waiver wire. Nothing. Absolutely nothing worth picking up. Everyone in my league hoards defenses like they’re gold-plated toilet paper.
Then, I hit the forums. I’m talking Reddit, FantasyPros, everywhere. I wanted to see what the “experts” were saying. Half of them were saying roll with the Rams, they’re playing the Chargers, who are without their key players . The other half were screaming about the Broncos playing at home, which they are play much better , supposedly.
My Dilemma
- Rams: Higher floor, playing, but a lower ceiling.
- Broncos: Super risky, could totally bust, but playing at home, and the potential for a huge game was there.
I spent hours agonizing over this. I changed my lineup, like, five times. I talked to my buddy who’s also in the league (and conveniently, not playing me in the championship), and he just laughed and said, “Dude, it’s a coin flip.” Great, thanks for the help.
Finally, I decided to go with my gut. I benched the Rams. I picked up and started the Broncos. Yeah, I know, crazy. But something about that home-field advantage, and the rams offense, I just had a feeling.
Game day. I’m watching the RedZone channel like a hawk. Every time the broncos defense was on the field, I was holding my breath. And… it paid off! The Broncos D came through! They racked up a bunch of points.

I won my championship! Seriously, I almost had a heart attack, but the Broncos defense, of all teams, helped me secure the victory. It was a wild ride, and a reminder that sometimes, you gotta trust your gut, even if it seems insane.
