Okay, so, I’ve been seeing these WWE championship belts used as fantasy football trophies, and I thought, “I gotta get in on this.” I’m not even a huge wrestling fan, but the idea of having this massive, over-the-top belt to lord over my league mates? Yes, please.

First, I spent hours, and I mean hours, looking online. There were so many options! Replica belts, custom-made ones, even some that looked like they were straight out of a WWE ring (those were way out of my budget, though).
I decided I wanted something, customizable, but I’m no artist. I thought maybe, just maybe, I could put my basic crafting skills to the test.
So, I went for it, and here’s how my project started:
- I ordered this basic WWE championship replica from a shop, thinking it was the perfect start point.
- I grabbed some acrylic paints, and a few different sized brushes.
- I also picked up some adhesive-backed felt, and some of the glittery stuff.
The Messy Part (aka the Painting)
I started by carefully taking the belt apart. Screws everywhere! I laid all the pieces out on some old newspaper, ready to transform this thing.
My league’s name? “The Gridiron Gladiators”. It is glorious. I carefully painted the name onto the main plate, using the felt as stencils, It was slow going, and my hand was cramping like crazy, but I persisted.

The side plates were next. I decided to go with our league logo – a ridiculously muscular football player flexing. After several (failed) attempts to draw it freehand, I printed it out, traced it onto the felt, and then painted inside the lines. Much better!
I added some extra details, like little footballs and some victory-looking symbols. I am no painter, okay, and used simple shapes and colors.
Putting It All Back Together
Once everything was (mostly) dry – I’m impatient, I admit it – I screwed the plates back onto the belt. This was surprisingly tricky. Tiny screws, big fingers.
Finally, I stood back and admired my handiwork. It wasn’t perfect, of course. There were a few smudges, some uneven lines, and probably way too much glitter. I thought it looked great!
The best part? Holding that belt up, feeling the weight of it, and imagining the look on my league mates’ faces when I show up to the draft with this bad boy. Total domination. That’s what this belt represents. And bragging rights, definitely bragging rights. Bring on the season!
