Alright, let me tell you about this run I did, the one I’ve been calling “saving the mole”. It wasn’t exactly rescuing a person, you know, but felt just as intense trying to get this thing out of Reserve.

Gearing Up and Going In
So, I decided it was time. Been putting off this particular task, grabbing some intel deep down in the bunker system on Reserve. Felt like digging out a mole, hence the name I gave the whole escapade in my head. Kitted out pretty light, actually. Didn’t want to lose a fortune if things went sideways, which, let’s be honest, they often do in Tarkov.
Spawned near the train station side. Okay, not ideal for a bunker run, meant a bit of a trek across potentially hot zones. First things first, gotta be quiet. Crouched, listened, moved slow. Heard some shots way off by dome, sounded like PMCs getting busy. Good, let them distract each other.
Down into the Dark
Made my way towards one of the bunker entrances, the hole in the ground near the helicopter. Always gives me the creeps going down there. It’s dark, echoes everywhere, easy to get ambushed. Checked corners, listened hard. Heard shuffling further down. Scav? Raider? Player? No idea. Just knew I wasn’t alone.
Pulled out my trusty flashlight, quick peeks. Found the room I needed. Door was closed. Heart’s pounding a bit now. You never know what’s waiting behind a closed door down there. Opened it slow… clear. Phew. Grabbed the documents, stuffed ’em in my secure container immediately. That was the mole, secured. Now, the hard part: getting out.
The Escape Plan
My initial plan was maybe the sewer extract, if it was open. Had to get there first. Started heading back the way I came, but then heard heavy footsteps, definitely geared players this time, coming down the main stairs. No way I was fighting that. Okay, plan B.

Remembered there’s that other way, involves flipping a switch and running like hell. Decided that was the play. Snuck through the lower levels, trying to avoid contact. Found the power switch room. More shuffling nearby. Had to deal with a Scav who popped out of nowhere, quick burst, dropped him. Loot? No time, gotta go.
Flicked the switch for the hermetic door extract. Now it’s a race against time, and letting everyone know I’m down here. Started hoofing it towards the extraction point. Heard the alarm blaring, always gets the adrenaline pumping.
- Footsteps behind me? Maybe? Paranoia kicks in hard down there.
- Checked corners running, probably looked ridiculous.
- Almost ran smack into another player near the exit tunnel, we both panicked, sprayed bullets everywhere. Think I hit him, but didn’t stick around to check. Just ran.
Made It Out
Saw the green smoke. Oh man, what a relief. Dived into the extract zone, screen faded to black. Made it. Back in the stash, checked the loot. Wasn’t much besides the quest item, but that was the whole point. Mission accomplished. The mole was safe.
It wasn’t the craziest raid ever, no massive fights or insane loot, but getting that specific item out from deep underground felt really good. Just a solid, tense run where the plan mostly worked. That’s Tarkov for you sometimes – the quiet successes feel just as good as the loud ones.
