Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this game called Honkai: Star Rail. It’s a pretty cool game, lots of characters, and you level them up, right? So, I wanted to see what happens when you hit those big level milestones, and let me tell you, it got a bit wild.
First, I had to actually get a character to one of those milestone levels. I picked my favorite, Seele and just started grinding. We’re talking hours of gameplay, just to see what would happen. I started the game, and then I chose the character that I wanted to level up. After that, I began fighting with others, and I won a lot of battles. My character became stronger and stronger!
Then I found out that the developers have some kind of password reset thing going on. Like, I saw “Reimposta password” on their website which I guess is Italian for “reset password.” And some contact info like an email and phone number. Seemed a bit out of place, but I guess it is related to their data security.
Finding the 2bit
So while I was digging around, I stumbled upon this thing called a “.2bit file.” Apparently, it’s some kind of file format used for storing genetic sequences. I know nothing about that stuff. And then there was some Python code about reading these .2bit files, but not writing them. Sounded complicated and way above my pay grade.
I kept digging and found out that you can make these .2bit files using some software tools, like Biostrings and rtracklayer from what I understand. I think these tools are for converting regular sequence files, like FASTA files, into the .2bit format. I tried to do that, but I failed.
From Images to Data
I even found a program that can take a video or a series of images and turn them into one of these .2bit files. What would I do with that? I have no clue. I just thought it was cool that you could turn pictures into some kind of genetic data. I played around with it a bit, just for fun, but I didn’t really have a use for it.
Stuck in the Mud
So, I tried to follow some instructions on preparing these files for something. But I kept getting this error message: “Error in .copySeqFile.” It completely stopped me in my tracks. I spent hours trying to figure it out, but I just couldn’t get past it. It was frustrating, to say the least. I tried so many times, but it didn’t work no matter what I did.
In the end, I didn’t really achieve what I set out to do. I mean, I learned a little bit about these .2bit files and how they’re used, but I didn’t actually get to use them for anything in the game. It was a fun little experiment, I guess, but ultimately a bit of a dead end. But hey, that’s how it goes sometimes, right? You try things, you fail, you learn something along the way. At least I know my Seele is leveled up now!
