Okay, so I’ve been trying to dial in my gear lately, really get everything optimized. And I kept seeing Patrick Cantlay’s name pop up in discussions about consistent ball-striking. So, I figured, “Why not take a peek at what’s in his bag?” Might give me some ideas, you know?

First thing I did was just a basic search. Typed in “Patrick Cantlay WITB” – What’s In The Bag, for those not in the know – and boom, tons of articles and forum posts came up. Started clicking through, trying to get a good overall picture.
The Driver Deep Dive
The driver was the first thing I really dug into. Seems like he’s pretty loyal to Titleist. I spent some time reading forum discussions. And, what really stood out was the consistency. He’s not switching things up every other week like some pros.
Irons and Wedges – Where the Precision Is
Next up were the irons. Now, this is where it gets interesting for me, because I’m always tinkering with my iron setup. Cantlay’s setup. I’ve been going back and forth between a few different sets, trying to find that perfect blend of forgiveness and feel. I’m going to adjust my clubs a bit after this.
And the wedges! Critical for scoring, right? I watched a couple of videos. The bounce and grind are key. Going to the range to try a little bit more.
The Putter – The Money Maker
Finally, the putter. Let’s be honest, this is where games are won and lost. Cantlay uses a Scotty Cameron. It’s a classic blade style.

So, what did I actually do after all this research? Well, a few things:
- Experimented with weighting:. Felt good, but needs more testing.
- Played around with different wedge: Still not totally sold, but it’s getting closer to what I want.
- Tested putter: I got to the practice and putted for almost two hours.
Overall, it was a worthwhile exercise. It’s not about copying Cantlay’s exact setup – that’s silly. It’s about understanding why he uses what he uses, and seeing if any of those principles can apply to my own game. Still a work in progress, but I definitely picked up a few things that I’m excited to try out on the course.
