Okay, so today I wanted to mess around with something a little different – golf. Specifically, I got curious about the past winners of the RBC Heritage tournament. You know, that golf tournament they always play down in South Carolina? I always hear about it but never really paid much attention to the history. So, I decided to dig in and see what I could find.
First, I just did a simple search online, nothing fancy. I just typed in “RBC Heritage past winners” into the search bar and started looking through the results. Pretty quickly, I found a couple of sites that listed out the winners from each year. That gave me a good starting point.
Then I got to work on compiling this information into something I could easily look at. I started copying and pasting the winners’ names and the year they won into a document. I figured I’d organize it all later, I just wanted to get the raw data down first. It was a bit tedious, but kinda cool to see all these names and dates pop up. It looks like Arnold Palmer won the first one back in 1969! How cool is that? Some other names I recognized were Scottie Scheffler, who apparently just won recently, and Jordan Spieth, Matt Fitzpatrick, Stewart Cink.
After I had all the names down, I started organizing them by year. I made a simple list, starting from 1969 all the way up to 2024. Next to each year, I put the winner’s name.
The Findings
Here is a sample of what I pulled:
- 1969: Arnold Palmer
- 2021: Stewart Cink
- 2022: Jordan Spieth
- 2023: Matt Fitzpatrick
- 2024: Scottie Scheffler
I also noticed that the prize money is a whopping 5.8 million, with the winner taking home a cool 1.04 million! Not bad for a few days of work, huh? And get this – apparently, Scottie Scheffler just won this year after winning the Masters. That’s a pretty big deal, as some website told me that it hadn’t been done in like 39 years! Tiger Woods, one of the biggest names in golf, only played in this tournament once, back in 1999. He didn’t even win then! Came in 18th as far as I can tell.
So yeah, that’s basically what I did today. Nothing too crazy, but it was fun to learn a bit more about the RBC Heritage and its past winners. I might keep digging into this, maybe look into some of the more dramatic or interesting wins over the years. It’s always cool to learn something new, even if it’s just about a golf tournament. Stay tuned for more random explorations!
