I narrowed it down based on the number of letters and the letters I already had filled in from other clues.
In the end, I managed to solve the puzzle! It was a good feeling. And I learned a bit about how these crossword puzzles are made. Apparently, there are people who create them, these “freelance constructors,” and they have an editor who’s been doing it since 1993. They even make the puzzles harder throughout the week. That’s pretty neat, right?
So yeah, that’s my little story about tackling the “sharply hurt” crossword clue. It was a fun little detour from my day. I guess the lesson here is, don’t be afraid to ask for help, even if it’s from the internet.
