So, I was fiddling around with some tide stuff for Jordan Point the other day. I have been wanting to plan a little trip down there and figured I should probably have some idea of when the water’s gonna be high and low. It’s always good to know what you’re getting yourself into, right?
First off, I spent a while digging around to find some decent tide charts for Jordan Point. Turns out, there are a bunch of places where you can get this info, but it took me a minute to find one that was easy to read and had all the details I needed. What a chore!
After I found a good chart, I started looking at the high and low tide times for the days I was interested in. For example, I noticed that one day the first high tide was super early, like 1:35 in the morning, and the first low tide was around 7:57 AM. Then there was another high tide in the afternoon at 2:05 PM. I wrote all these times down so I wouldn’t forget.
- High Tide: 1:35 AM
- Low Tide: 7:57 AM
- High Tide: 2:05 PM
Another day I looked at, the tides were a bit different. That day, the first low tide was just after midnight, at 12:12 AM, and the first high tide wasn’t until 5:44 AM. Then there was another low tide around noon at 12:08 PM. These times were also noted down, of course.
- Low Tide: 12:12 AM
- High Tide: 5:44 AM
- Low Tide: 12:08 PM
I also learned that you can find predictions for future dates and even look at past tide data for Jordan Point. Pretty handy if you’re trying to plan something in advance or just want to see what the tides were like on a certain day. I even found this one chart that showed the tide heights in feet, which is useful if you’re trying to figure out how much the water level is gonna change. For instance, one day the highest tide was 2.1 feet, and the lowest was only 0.33 feet. Not a huge difference, but still good to know.
It might seem like a lot of work just to figure out when the water’s gonna be high or low, but trust me, it’s worth it. Whether you’re planning on doing some fishing, boating, or just hanging out by the water, knowing the tides can make a big difference. I know it made my planning a whole lot easier. Just remember to keep an eye on those charts, because the tides are always changing!
