Well, let me tell ya, wrestling ain’t what it used to be. These days, them WWE folks, they just keep lettin’ go of wrestlers left and right. Don’t know what’s gotten into ’em. Used to be, you stuck around, you got your chance. Now? Poof! Gone like a fart in the wind.
Heard tell just the other day, smack-bang in the middle of the week, they let go a whole mess of ’em. Twenty-two wrestlers! Can you believe that? Raw, SmackDown, NXT… didn’t matter where you were, they just cleaned house. Must be tryin’ to save a buck or two, I reckon. Times are tough, I guess, even for them big wrestling fellas.
And some of them, they been around a good long while. Take that Dolph Ziggler fella, for instance. Been wrestlin’ since, shoot, 2004! That’s near twenty years! And now, he’s out on his rear end. Just like that. Makes you wonder, don’t it? You give your all, you sweat and bleed for them folks, and then they just toss you aside like an old shoe.
Then there’s this Mustafa Ali character. Heard he was the first to get the boot. Folks were surprised, seein’ as how he was a pretty good wrestler. But that’s the way it goes, I s’pose. One minute you’re on top, the next you’re lookin’ for a new job.
- They even let go of that Baron Corbin guy. Heard he was with ’em for twelve years!
- And them two girls, Indi Hartwell and Tegan Nox? Gone too.
- Just like that Sasha Banks gal, though she went and done some movie stuff before all this happened.
It’s a shame, really. These folks, they put their bodies on the line every night. They entertain us, they make us laugh, they make us cry. And then, poof! They’re gone. Makes you think about how things work, you know? One day you’re in, the next day you’re out. Just like that Randy Orton fella, got hurt somethin’ fierce. Spine, they say. Ain’t right, I tell ya.
Heard tell they merged with some other fightin’ company, somethin’ called UFC. Maybe that’s why they’re lettin’ so many go. Gotta make room for them UFC fellas, I guess. But it ain’t fair to them wrestlers who been loyal all these years. They deserve better, I say.
And it ain’t just the big names, neither. Seems like even if you ain’t on TV much, you ain’t safe. They got all these young fellas trainin’ and hopin’ to make it big, and then they just cut ’em loose before they even get a chance. It’s a dog-eat-dog world, that’s for sure.
Don’t know what the future holds for these wrestlers. Maybe they’ll go to some other company, maybe they’ll find somethin’ else to do. But one thing’s for sure, they ain’t gonna forget this. And neither will us fans. We’ll remember the ones they let go, the ones who gave us so much entertainment over the years. WWE wrestlers released, that’s what they’ll be known for. A whole bunch of ’em gone, just like that.
Makes you think, maybe things ain’t always as they seem on that there TV screen. All them bright lights and big muscles, and then, bam! You’re back to just bein’ a regular fella, lookin’ for work. Just like the rest of us.
