So, I’ve been thinking a lot about this whole “monster abyss” thing lately. It’s a wild concept, right? I mean, the idea of this bottomless pit filled with all sorts of crazy creatures? It really gets the imagination going.
I started by just letting the idea roll around in my head. I was like, “Okay, what is this abyss?” You know, just the basic stuff. What came to mind was this image of a deep, dark chasm. I started jotting down some thoughts, random things that popped into my head. “Dark,” “endless,” “mysterious,” that kind of stuff. I wasn’t trying to make sense of it yet, just getting it all out on paper, just like spitballing.
Then, I dove into some reading. I stumbled upon this quote, “He who fights with monsters should be careful lest he thereby becomes a monster. And if thou gaze long into an abyss.” Man, that hit me hard. It got me thinking about the psychological aspects. Like, what happens to people who explore this place? Do they lose their minds? Do they become like the creatures they encounter?
Then, I looked at the idea of the abyss as a place with its own ecosystem, different versions of the world, and so on. This ecosystem has a lot of living creatures, especially this “crimson splitjaw.” I even sketched out a few ideas for what it might look like. Nothing fancy, just some rough outlines to get the creative juices flowing.
- Crimson Splitjaw: Big, scary, sharp teeth. Maybe some glowing bits?
- Some Other Creature: Slimy, maybe with lots of eyes or tentacles.
I got thinking, maybe this abyss isn’t just a physical place. Maybe it’s also a metaphor, you know? Like a metaphor for the dark parts of our minds, or maybe a metaphor for deep sea claustrophobia. There’s this saying, “Being able to relate to others is what helps in terms of feeling like it isn’t just us spinning around on this massive rock, which is crucial in times of crisis. It’s what connects us.” So, maybe this abyss is also about isolation and the fear of the unknown.
I found some stories about people going into the abyss, like these characters Riko and Reg. It’s crazy that people would risk their lives to explore this place, even though so many have died there. What drives them? Curiosity? Greed? Madness? Maybe a little bit of all three?
Then there’s this story about a guy named Yoo Hobin, who’s just trying to survive high school without getting beat up. It made me think, maybe the abyss is like high school, a place where you have to constantly watch your back. Not a perfect analogy, but it’s something, right?
I even came across this wrestler named “Chris” Parks, also known as Abyss. He’s the first to hold the Championship while competing under a mask. It’s kind of a cool coincidence, given the whole “monster abyss” theme. And then I looked up his real name, Christopher, and it was a full-circle moment, you know? From the monstrous to the ordinary.
So yeah, that’s where I’m at with this whole “monster abyss” thing. It’s a lot to unpack, and I’m still trying to make sense of it all. But it’s been a fun ride so far, just exploring all these different ideas and seeing where they lead. It’s like piecing together a giant, weird puzzle, and I’m not even sure what the final picture will look like. But hey, that’s half the fun, right?
