Alright, let’s gab about them famous number 9 football fellas, eh? You know, the ones what wear that number on their backs and kick the ball real good. I ain’t no expert, mind you, but I watch the telly sometimes and I see these fellas runnin’ around.
First off, they say number 9, that’s the fella what scores the goals. The main man, you see? Like in the old days, they had them fellas right up front, always lookin’ to put the ball in the net. That’s what a number 9 does, they say. Ain’t fancy, just gets the job done.
Now, I heard tell of this fella, Alan Shearer. They say he scored more goals than anyone in that big English league. And he won the whole thing with Blackburn Rovers way back when. Imagine that! A small team like that, winnin’ it all. That Shearer fella, he musta been somethin’ special.
- He was good at kickin’ the ball, that’s for sure.
- And he was strong, I bet. Couldn’t knock him off the ball easy.
- And he knew where to be, you know? Always in the right spot at the right time.
Then there’s this other fella, Jamie Vardy. Now, he’s a late bloomer, they say. Didn’t get famous till he was older, but boy, did he make up for lost time! Played for Leicester City, that team what surprised everyone and won the league too. Vardy, he was fast, like a whippet, they say. And he could finish, put the ball in the net no matter how hard it was.
Another one, they call him “El Fenomeno,” Ronaldo. Not that fella what plays now, the other one, the Brazilian. They say he was somethin’ else. Strong, fast, skillful, the whole shebang. He could dribble past fellas like they weren’t even there, and then he’d whack the ball into the net. He was a real number 9, that’s what they say. He made the game look easy, like he was born to play football.
And there’s more, you know? Lots more. This Dusan Vlahovic fella, playin’ in Italy, they say he’s good. Scores lots of goals. And that Memphis Depay, playin’ for Barcelona now. Big club, that Barcelona. He wears the number 9, so he must be pretty good. And then there’s this Michail Antonio fella, plays for West Ham. They say he’s a bit different, can play in different positions, but he wears the number 9 sometimes, so he counts.
Then there is this Erling Haaland playing for Man City. They say he’s young but already very good. He scores lots of goals, like them fellas I talked about before. Seems like every team has to have a good number 9 if they wanna win anything. It makes sense, I reckon. Gotta score goals to win, ain’t that right? And the number 9, that’s the fella who’s supposed to do the scorin’. It’s his job, like milkin’ cows is my job… well, used to be my job, afore my back gave out.
So, yeah, them number 9 fellas, they’re important. They’re the ones what get the crowd cheerin’ and the team winnin’. And there’s been some great ones over the years. Shearer, Ronaldo, Vardy, and all the rest. They all wore that number 9 with pride, and they all scored a whole heap of goals. And that, I reckon, is what makes them famous.
Now, I ain’t sayin’ I know everything about football. I just watch it sometimes on the telly, when I ain’t got nothin’ better to do. But I know a good player when I see one, and them number 9 fellas, they’re usually pretty good. They’re the ones what make the game excitin’, the ones what put the ball in the net and make the crowd go wild. And that’s good enough for me.
