Alright, so listen up, y’all. We’re gonna talk about somethin’ real special today, somethin’ ’bout them football fellas from Oklahoma University, the ones that won that fancy trophy, the Heis-man, yeah, that’s the one. Them boys, they play some good football, I tell ya.
Now, Oklahoma University, or OU as folks call it, they’re like peas in a pod with this Heisman Trophy thing. Been tied to it since way back when, 1935 they say. And guess what? Seven, yes sir, seven of their boys done won it. That’s a whole lotta trophies, ain’t it? They’re up there with Ohio State, neck and neck, like two ol’ mules pullin’ the same cart.
The Heisman Trophy, what’s that all about anyway? Well, it’s named after some fella, John W. Heisman, a coach, they say. Guess he knew a thing or two ’bout football. This trophy, it ain’t just any ol’ thing, it means you’re the best darn college football player in the whole country. That’s somethin’, ain’t it?
- First off, there’s been a bunch of Heisman winners, but some of them boys, they were special. Sophomores, they call ’em, second year in college. Tim Tebow, that’s one name I heard. Then, there’s these young’uns, freshmen, just startin’ out. Johnny Manziel and Jameis Winston, those young fellas, they grabbed that trophy too. But we’re here to talk ’bout OU, ain’t we?
Okay, so OU’s got seven, like I said. Five of ’em, they kinda show how OU got to be so good at this football thing. Like, they got better and better, year after year, ’til they were the kings of the hill. Real kings, I tell ya.
And then there’s this Kyler Murray fella. He won it in 2018, they say. His season, it was somethin’ else. Big moments, that’s what they called it. Guess he made some plays that had folks jumpin’ outta their seats. He’s the seventh one from OU, the latest. Made folks proud, I reckon.
Now, they talk about other folks at OU too, like this Sylvia Lewis woman. First African American somethin’-somethin’, regent they called it. That’s important, they say, showin’ how things change. But we’re stickin’ to football for now, though it’s nice to see good things happening to good people.
So, seven Heisman winners from OU. That’s a whole lot of talent, a whole lot of hard work. Them boys, they put in the time, the sweat, the tears. And they got somethin’ to show for it, that shiny Heisman Trophy, standin’ tall and proud.
And let me tell you, winnin’ that Heisman, it ain’t easy. You gotta be tough, you gotta be smart, and you gotta have a whole lotta heart. These OU fellas, they got all that and more. They make their mamas proud, their daddies proud, and the whole state of Oklahoma proud, I’d bet.
So next time you hear ’bout OU football, remember them Heisman winners. Remember the names, remember the plays. They’re part of somethin’ special, somethin’ bigger than just a game. They’re part of history, part of the OU legacy. And that, my friends, is somethin’ to be proud of, winnin’ and doin’ good, that’s what it’s all about.
Just think about it, seven Heisman winners. That’s more than most schools can even dream of. OU, they ain’t just playin’ football, they’re livin’ it. And that passion, that dedication, it shows. It shows in every game, every play, every Heisman Trophy they bring home.
And let’s not forget, that Heisman Trophy ain’t just for the players. It’s for the whole OU family, the coaches, the fans, the whole darn community. They all share in that victory, they all feel that pride. It’s a team effort, through and through.
So here’s to OU, here’s to their Heisman winners, and here’s to many more years of great football. They got a good thing goin’ there, and I reckon they ain’t gonna let it go anytime soon. They’ll keep on fightin’, keep on winnin’, and keep on makin’ Oklahoma proud. You just watch and see.
