Okay, folks, let’s dive into something I messed around with today – Tiger Woods’ rookie year. I’ve always been fascinated by how dominant he was right out of the gate, so I wanted to dig into that.

First, I started by just getting a feel for the general story. You know, the basic stuff everyone remembers. I poked around to refresh my memory on his early wins, his age, and the general hype surrounding him at the time. It was insane! People were going nuts for him, and frankly, I got sucked in just reviewing it.
Then, I thought, “Okay, let’s get more specific.” I wanted to see a list of all the tournaments he played in during that 1996-1997 period, his rookie season. This was a bit trickier. I spent a good chunk of time looking for reliable records, sifting through to make sure I had a complete picture. It was a lot of back and forth, cross-referencing what I found.
- I focused on getting the names of each tournament right.
- I double-checked the dates, because sometimes you see conflicting info out there.
- I made sure to note his finishing position in each event. That’s the key, right? Seeing how he actually performed.
After I felt like I had a solid list of tournaments, I wanted to see if I could find any old articles or news reports from that time. This was more for fun, to get a sense of the atmosphere and the media coverage. I found some cool stuff, old interviews, and some pretty wild predictions about his future (some of which turned out to be totally accurate!).
The Results
What I built was basically a timeline of his rookie year.
It showed his progression, from those first few events where he was already making waves,

to his Masters win, which, of course, was just the beginning. It’s one thing to know he was good,
it’s another to see it laid out, event by event.
It made me appreciate even more how ridiculously talented he was, even back then. I might do more of these to see the other players’ performances.
