Okay, so I’ve been seeing a lot of buzz about Tommy Fleetwood’s setup, his “WITB” – What’s In The Bag. I figured, I’m a decent golfer, let’s try to replicate what a pro uses and see how it goes. It might be completely awful or it could be interesting!.

First, I gathered all the info I could find on his clubs. It wasn’t super easy, things change, you know? But I got a pretty good idea of what he’s been using recently.
My Recreation Process Step-by-Step
- Driver: The most crucial element of the gear is the driver! I found out which one he use! I don’t have access to one! I selected one similar that I already own.
- Fairway Woods: I checked my club collection, and Luckily, I had something reasonably close. Not the exact same shaft, but close enough for this experiment.
- Irons: Okay, this was tricky. Fleetwood uses some pretty specific irons. I definitely don’t own those. So, I did my best to match the type of iron – more of a player’s iron than a game-improvement iron. I found a set that felt similar in terms of weight and balance. It’s all about feel, right?
- Wedges: I got lucky here. I had some wedges that were pretty close in loft to what Fleetwood uses. I adjusted my sand wedge a bit to get the bounce angle closer.
- Putter: This was easy,I already use putter, just like Fleetwood.
Next, I headed to the driving range. The first few swings with the “new” setup were… interesting. The driver, felt totally different. I sliced a few, hooked a few, and generally felt like I was learning to play golf all over again.
The fairway woods were a little better. Because I had something similar, I felt more comfortable. I still struggled to get the same kind of distance Fleetwood probably gets, but that’s not surprising.
The irons… yeah, those were tough. I’m used to clubs that are a bit more forgiving. These felt… precise. When I hit them well, it was great. But my misses were definitely worse. I definitely need more practice with these.
The wedges were fine, since I was already pretty close to his setup there. No major changes in my short game.

Finally,The putter,That’s 100% good for me.
After the range, I took the setup to the course. I played a full round, trying to stick to the clubs I thought Fleetwood would use in each situation.
The Results
My score? Let’s just say it wasn’t my best. I lost a few balls, struggled with the irons, and generally felt a bit out of sorts. But, it was actually pretty fun! It made me think differently about my club choices and how different equipment can affect your game.
I can see how getting the perfect gear is so important for someone like him. For me, it was a fun experiment, but I’ll probably go back to my old set. It maybe improved my driving range, but my short game still stinks.
