Alright, let’s talk about this “MLB The Show” thing, the trial and the demo, ya know? Folks keep askin’ me, “What’s the difference?” Well, it ain’t rocket science, I tell ya.
First off, you got this “MLB The Show” game. It’s about baseball, that sport with the bats and the balls and all them fellas runnin’ around. They make a new one every year, like this year they got that Guerrero fella on the cover. Good hitter, that one, I hear.
Now, sometimes they let you try the game before you buy it, which is mighty nice of ’em. They got two ways of doin’ this: the trial and the demo. Don’t get your britches in a twist, it ain’t complicated.
The Trial Version
The trial, see, that’s like gettin’ the whole dang pie but only bein’ allowed to eat a slice or two. You get the full game, all the players, all the stadiums, all the fancy modes, like that Diamond Dynasty thing where you build your own team. You can play everything, manage your team, do whatever you want. But, and here’s the catch, you only get to play it for a short while. Like, maybe a few days, maybe a week. They give you a taste, see? They say, “Here, play it for a bit, and if you like it, you gotta buy the whole thing.” It’s like test-drivin’ a car. You get to feel the engine, see how it handles, but then you gotta give it back or pay up. They had one of these trials last year, in July I think it was, for a few days. People were playin’ it like crazy.
The Demo Version
Then you got the demo. Now, the demo ain’t the whole pie. It’s more like a little sliver they give ya, just a taste. It might only have one team, one stadium, maybe just a couple of game modes. You don’t get the whole shebang. It’s like when the bakery gives out them little samples of cake, you know? You get a bite, see if you like it, but you don’t get the whole piece. This way, you can see if you like how the game plays, if the hittin’ and the pitchin’ feels right. But you can’t play all the fancy stuff, like that Diamond Dynasty or buildin’ your own team with the old-time players. That’s the difference, see? Demo is like a little snack, trial is like a short rental.
Why Do They Do This?
Well, they want you to buy the game, that’s why! They figure if you get a taste, you’ll want the whole thing. And it works, I tell ya. Folks get hooked on these games, spendin’ hours playin’ ’em. I seen it with my own eyes. They even put this game on that Switch thing, so even more folks can play it now, young and old. And every year, they come out with a new one, with better players, better graphics, more stuff to do.
- Trial: Full game, limited time.
- Demo: Limited game, unlimited time (until the game comes out, I guess).
So, there you have it. Trial versus demo, plain and simple. One’s a short rental, the other’s a free sample. Now go on, get yourself educated, and don’t come askin’ me again!
And another thing, this “MLB The Show”, it’s the only real baseball game out there, if you want the real teams and players. Some folks say there are other games, but they ain’t the same. This one, it’s made by those folks in San Diego, and they know their baseball. So if you like baseball, this is the game for you, whether you try the trial or the demo first. But remember, the trial is just a short time thing, like they had that test thing, the Tech Test, I think they called it, earlier this year, or was it last year? Time flies when you’re havin’ fun, or when you’re tryin’ to figure out these computer games.
Anyway, you get the picture. Now, go on and figure out which one you want to try, and have yourself a good time playin’ some baseball. It’s a good way to spend an afternoon, even for an old lady like me, though I prefer watchin’ the real thing on TV. But these young folks, they love these games. And who am I to judge?
So, go on now, get outta here and go play some ball! Or watch it, or whatever you do. Just don’t bother me too much, I got things to do.
