Well, well, well, look what we have here! That young girl, Amari DeBerry, she’s movin’ on up. Heard she’s leavin’ that UConn place and headin’ over to Maryland. You know, that basketball team. Good for her, I say! Gotta spread your wings and fly, right?
She was at UConn for three years, that DeBerry girl. Played in a whole bunch of games, 60 or so they say. Didn’t always play a lot, but when she did, she did alright. Scored some points, you know. Eight points in one game against, uh, DePaul, I think it was. That’s what I heard, anyway.
She’s a big girl, that Amari. Plays forward, they call it. I don’t know all the fancy basketball terms, but I know she can play. Heard she was a big deal comin’ outta high school. Everyone wanted her, all the big schools. She was all that and a bag of chips! Was ranked number 15 or something. Top recruit, that’s the words they use. Big time, that’s what she is.
She got hurt some at UConn, though. Injuries, they can really mess you up. Slowed her down a bit, I reckon. Didn’t get to play as much as she wanted, maybe. That coach there, what’s his name… Gino somethin’. Heard he’s a tough one. Anyways, Amari, she wasn’t gettin’ the time on the court she wanted, maybe that’s why she’s leavin’.
- She played for UConn.
- She’s going to Maryland now.
- She was a big-time recruit.
- She plays forward, I think that’s what they said.
- Amari DeBerry is her name, don’t forget it!
Now she’s goin’ to Maryland. They got a good team there, too. She’ll probably get more playin’ time. That’s what every player wants, right? To be on the court, showin’ what they can do. It’s like when you got a good cow, you gotta let her graze, you know? Can’t keep her locked up in the barn all day. Gotta let her out to pasture. That’s how I see it with this Amari DeBerry transfer thing.
Maryland is gettin’ a good one, that’s for sure. She is the fifth transfer for Maryland. They’re gettin’ all kinds of new players. Like when you add new chickens to the coop, gotta make sure they all get along. Hope they all work well together, these new players and the ones that were already there. Teamwork, that’s what it’s all about.
Heard she won some gold medal thing, too. Some big tournament, FIBA, I think they call it. She played for the USA, you know. Representin’ the whole country. That’s a big deal, right there. She’s a winner, that one. Got that gold to prove it. Maryland is lucky to have her.
This ain’t her first rodeo, you know. She’s been around the block. Played for that UConn team, they’re always good. They got a whole bunch of players in that WNBA, that’s the women’s professional league. Big names, like that Stewart girl, and Collier. They were good at UConn, and now they’re big stars. Maybe Amari will be like them someday. She played in the NCAA Tournament, that’s the big college playoffs.
You never know what the future holds. But I think Amari DeBerry to Maryland, that’s a good move. She seems like a good kid, works hard. And she sure can play that basketball. I reckon she’ll do just fine at Maryland. She’ll fit right in. Maybe win some more championships, who knows. You just gotta keep your eye on the ball, that’s what I always say.
All this talk about basketball reminds me of when my grandson used to play. He was a good little player, too. Not as good as Amari, of course, but he loved the game. Used to run around the yard with that ball, dribblin’ and shootin’. Brought a smile to my face, it did.
Well, I best be gettin’ on with my chores. Got chickens to feed and whatnot. But I’ll be keepin’ an eye on that Amari DeBerry. I think she’s gonna do big things at Maryland. You just wait and see. This UConn transfer Amari DeBerry, she’s one to watch, that’s for sure.
She is from Williamsville, New York. That is far from here. Hope she likes it in Maryland. It is important to like where you live and play. You gotta be happy where you are, that’s what my old pappy used to say. And he was right. Amari DeBerry to Maryland. Good for her. I hope she does real good there. She seems like a nice girl.
