Alright, let’s talk about this football stuff, you know, the NFL. Folks keep jabberin’ about who’s gettin’ the most flags thrown at ’em. Seems like every game, there’s somebody messin’ up and gettin’ the yellow hankie.
Now, I ain’t no fancy expert or nothin’, but I hear tell this fella, Jawaan Taylor, he’s an offensive tackle for the Kansas City Chiefs, yeah, that’s the team with the red and gold, he gets a whole heap of penalties. They say he’s been gettin’ ’em since he started playin’ in the league back in 2019. Forty-nine penalties, can you believe that? That’s a lot, even for someone who don’t know much about football like me. Sounds like he’s always holdin’ or false startin’ or somethin’. Poor fella, maybe he just gets too excited out there.
They got all these numbers and stats, you know, like how many yards this guy ran or how many times that guy got tackled. And they keep track of penalties too. This year, 2024, they sayin’ Taylor, he’s got the most. Nine penalties so far. Nine! That’s enough to make any coach pull his hair out, I reckon.
- They talk about “accepted penalties” and “declined penalties”… sounds complicated. All I know is, if the ref throws the flag, you done somethin’ wrong.
- And it ain’t just one fella. There’s a whole bunch of ‘em gettin’ flagged. Seems like some teams get more than others too. I heard the Chiefs and the Titans, they got a lot of penalties last year, tied for sixth most.
I remember hearin’ about this game a long time ago, way back in 1976. The Seahawks and the Buccaneers, they had so many penalties, it was crazy. Thirty-nine of ‘em! Must’ve been a real mess of a game. Referees blowin’ their whistles all day long.
And then there’s these referee fellas, they got their own crews and some of ‘em call more penalties than others. This Hochuli crew, they say they call most of their penalties on the offense. Guess they watchin’ those offensive linemen real close. Maybe that’s why Taylor gets so many, bein’ an offensive tackle and all.
Now, they got all these fancy names for the penalties too… pass interference, holding, offsides… It’s enough to make your head spin. All I care about is, is my team winnin’? And if they keep gettin’ penalties, they ain’t gonna win much, that’s for sure.
So, yeah, this Jawaan Taylor fella, he seems to be the one gettin’ the most penalties right now. But who knows, maybe somebody else will start gettin’ more flags thrown at ’em. It’s a long season, and there’s plenty of football left to be played. And plenty of chances for fellas to mess up and get a penalty.
It’s important to remember that even though someone gets a lot of penalties, it doesn’t mean they’re a bad player. Sometimes, it just means they’re playin’ hard and maybe pushin’ the rules a little too far. But still, you gotta play smart, or you’ll cost your team the game.
They talk about passing yards and rushing yards and who’s catchin’ the ball. Lamar Jackson throwin’ for a bunch of yards, and Saquon Barkley runnin’ like the wind, Ja’Marr Chase catchin’ all them passes. But all that don’t matter if you gettin’ penalized all the time. Gotta play clean, that’s what I say.
So there you have it, my take on this whole penalty thing. Jawaan Taylor, he’s the one they’re pointin’ their fingers at right now. But like I said, I ain’t no expert, just tellin’ it like I see it. Now, let’s get back to watchin’ the game, and see if anybody else gets a flag thrown at ’em.
