Okay, so I wanted to get a really clear picture of the Pitt Football team’s lineup, and I figured the best way to do that was to make my own depth chart. I’ve been following them for a while, but things change so fast, it’s hard to keep track of who’s starting, who’s backing up, and all that.

First, I started by looking around online. You know, checking out the official Pitt Athletics site, some fan forums, maybe a few sports news sites. Just wanted to get a general idea of what people were saying.
Then, I grabbed a piece of paper – yeah, I’m old school like that – and a pen. I started jotting down the positions: Quarterback, Running Back, Wide Receiver, the whole deal. I figured I’d start with the offense.
- Quarterback: I knew who the likely starter was, so I wrote that name down first. Then, I tried to remember who the backup was from the last game I watched.
- Running Back: This one was a bit tougher. There are usually a few guys who get playing time, so I wrote down the top two or three, trying to put them in order of who gets the most carries.
- Wide Receivers: The recivers is a very important role.
- …and so on for the rest of the offensive positions.
Once I had a rough list for the offense, I did the same thing for the defense. Defensive Line, Linebackers, Cornerbacks, Safeties – the whole nine yards.
After that, I went back to those websites I checked earlier. I compared my notes to what I was seeing online. Sometimes I had it right, sometimes I had to make some changes. It’s all a guessing game until the official lineup comes out, really.
Double-Checking My Work
Then I did the samething with Special Team.

Finally, I looked at my messy piece of paper and thought, “Okay, this is a decent starting point.” It’s not perfect, but it gives me a much better idea of who’s who on the field. Of course, things can change in a heartbeat with injuries and all, but at least I have a baseline to work from.
And make sure to check back after game day – you might need to make some adjustments based on who actually played!
