Okay, so I found myself looking into Ben Shelton’s background today. It started pretty simply, really.

Got some results back pretty quick. Lots of stuff saying he’s American, which, yeah, I figured. Played for the US, college tennis at Florida, all that. But that wasn’t quite what I was digging for.
Then I saw mentions of his dad, Bryan Shelton. I remember Bryan from his playing days and coaching. So I thought, okay, maybe looking into his parents would give a clearer picture. I adjusted my search a bit, maybe adding “parents” or focusing on Bryan Shelton’s background.
Found out pretty fast that his dad, Bryan, is Black or African American. That was a key piece right there. Then I looked for info on his mom, Lisa Shelton. Sources said she is White.
So, putting that together was easy enough. It means Ben Shelton is biracial, or mixed-race. Father is Black, mother is White.
That basically cleared it up for me. Just a bit of curiosity I had, and now I know. It’s interesting to see the different backgrounds in sports like tennis. Anyway, that was my little research task for the day.
