Okay, so, today I decided to tackle something I hadn’t done in ages – a crossword puzzle. Not just any crossword, though. I went straight for one of those “exacting” ones. You know, the kind that really makes you stretch your brain.
I started by scanning the clues. Some were pretty straightforward, but others? Man, they were tough. I grabbed a pen and started filling in the ones I was sure about. That gave me a few starting letters for the harder clues, which was helpful.
My Process
- Read all the clues first.
- Fill in the easy answers to get a base.
- Work on the harder clues, using the letters I already had.
- Take breaks when I got stuck. Sometimes you just need to step away for a bit, you know?
There were a couple of clues that really stumped me. I remember one was a five-letter word, and the clue was just “exacting.” I mean, come on! That could be so many things. I tried a few words like “hard” or “cruel”, but they were all too long or too short, I thought maybe “harsh”? Nope. I even tried looking it up online, but there were so many possibilities – “rigid,” “stern,” “difficult”. Nothing seemed to fit right.
So I decided to take a break. I went for a walk, cleared my head, and when I came back, I looked at the puzzle with fresh eyes. And then it hit me! The answer was “stern.” Five letters, and it fit perfectly with the other words I had already filled in. I filled it in immediately.
Finally, after a good amount of time and a lot of brainpower, I managed to complete the whole thing! It was a real challenge, but so satisfying to finish. I felt like I had really accomplished something, you know? It’s amazing how a simple crossword puzzle can make you feel so good.
