So, about this dragon royals series thing. It kind of started out of boredom, really. I was looking for a new little project, something to get my hands on, you know? Saw some pictures online, thought they looked pretty cool. Dragons, royalty, looked like a neat concept.

Getting Started
First thing I did was just try to figure out what was even available. It wasn’t super clear initially. I spent a good few evenings just searching around, trying to piece together a list of all the items in the main series. Found some fan forums, which helped a bit, but information was scattered everywhere.
I decided to start collecting the figures. Seemed like the most interesting part. I ordered the first couple from a big online store, easy peasy. They arrived, I unboxed them, set them up on a shelf. Looked alright. But then I realized getting the whole set wasn’t going to be that simple.
The Hunt
Some of these figures were apparently limited runs or exclusives to certain shops that weren’t around anymore. That’s when the real work started. I started checking auction sites regularly. Had to set up alerts. Woke up early some weekends to check new listings. It became a bit of a routine.
- Scoured online marketplaces daily.
- Joined a couple of collector groups on social media – mostly just watching at first.
- Made a spreadsheet to track what I had, what I needed, and prices I was seeing.
- Started visiting local comic shops and collectible stores, even though I didn’t expect much. Found one dusty figure in the back of a shop once, that was a good day.
Trading was a whole other level. Found someone who had one I needed, but they wanted two that I had doubles of. Had to figure out shipping, trusting they’d send theirs. Packed mine up super carefully, lots of bubble wrap. Waited nervously for a week. Thankfully, it worked out that time.
Finishing Up (Mostly)
There was this one specific figure, the “Golden Knight Dragon,” that was a nightmare to find at a decent price. Saw it listed for crazy money sometimes. Almost gave up. Then, randomly, saw it pop up in a bundle deal with some other stuff I didn’t really need. I just went for it, bought the whole lot. Sold off the extras later, bit by bit. Took ages, but I finally got it.

So now, yeah, I’ve got the main set lined up. Took me the better part of a year, honestly. Lots of late nights searching, packing boxes, trips to the post office. It was more effort than I expected, for sure. But looking at them all together now? Pretty satisfying. Not sure if I’ll go after the expansion sets they released later. Need a break, I think. It was quite the process.
