Finding Those Side Quests in Wuthering Waves
Alright, so I wanted to chat a bit about how I’ve been tracking down side quests in Wuthering Waves. It’s not always straightforward, you know? Sometimes they pop up right in front of you, other times you really gotta hunt for them.

My first step was usually just… wandering. Seriously. After finishing up whatever main story stuff I had, I’d pick a direction from Jinzhou and just start running. You bump into a lot of things that way. Points of interest, weird little camps, stuff like that. Sometimes a quest giver is just standing out there in the middle of nowhere.
Talking to NPCs is key. This sounds obvious, I know. But I mean really talking to them. Not just the ones with big markers over their heads. Sometimes random folks in settlements or even outposts have little dialogues that eventually lead to a quest starting. I made it a habit to click on anyone I could find in new areas.
Then there are the map markers. Keep an eye out for those blue quest markers that appear. They don’t always show up until you get reasonably close to the area, so just opening the map from far away might not reveal everything. I found myself exploring areas that looked interesting on the map, even without a marker, and sometimes a quest would trigger when I got there.
My Process Step-by-Step
- Explore actively: Don’t just fast travel everywhere. Run or glide through regions you haven’t fully uncovered. I found a couple of quests just by climbing a cliff or exploring a cave that looked interesting off the beaten path.
- Chat up everyone: Especially in smaller camps or villages outside the main city. Some NPCs only give quests after you’ve exhausted their initial dialogue.
- Check the map frequently: Zoom in on areas you’re currently in. Look for new icons that might have popped up after you entered the region or completed another nearby task.
- Look for world interactions: Sometimes a quest doesn’t start with an NPC, but by interacting with an object, like reading a note, examining a strange device, or helping someone being attacked by monsters. I stumbled upon one this way near the Dim Forest area, I think.
- Revisit areas: Sometimes, new side quests become available in places you’ve already been after you progress the main story or finish other side quests. I swung back through Jinzhou later on and found new people needing help.
Don’t forget the actual Quest Menu! It sounds silly, but sometimes I’d accept a quest and forget about it. I started making it a habit to check my quest log at the start of a play session, just to remind myself what I had picked up and where those objectives were pointing me on the map.
So yeah, it’s mostly about being curious and thorough. Just running around, talking to people, checking the map constantly, and interacting with anything that looks out of place. That’s how I’ve been filling up my quest log, bit by bit. It takes time, but finding those little stories tucked away is pretty rewarding.
