Alright, let’s talk about this little project I got into recently. I started watching some tennis, and Grigor Dimitrov caught my eye. Not just his game, but I noticed he often wears a watch, even sometimes right after playing, or during press stuff. It looked pretty slick, so I thought, okay, let’s figure out what watches this guy actually likes.

So, the first thing I did was pretty basic. Just jumped on the computer and started searching. Things like “Grigor Dimitrov watch”, “what watch does Dimitrov wear”, you get the idea. Got a whole flood of pictures back, which was expected. Lots of action shots on the court, some pictures from events, interviews, all that.
The tricky part started right away. In most action shots, his wrist is just a blur, or the watch is hidden by a wristband or the angle is just wrong. You can tell he’s wearing something, but figuring out what is tough. Even off-court, sometimes the pictures aren’t high-resolution enough to really see the details clearly.
Digging a bit deeper
I spent some time just scrolling through image results, trying to find clearer shots. Focused on pictures where he’s holding a trophy, sitting down for an interview, or just walking around. Sometimes you get lucky with those. I found a few where you could definitely make out the watch better.
It looked like he wore a few different ones over the years. That makes it harder, of course. Not just one watch to identify.
I started seeing mentions of certain brands pop up alongside his name in articles or forums. One brand came up quite a bit, a really well-known one, starts with ‘R’. Looked like he was often seen wearing their stuff.

- I tried comparing the photos I found to pictures of watches from that brand.
- Looked specifically at models often seen on athletes.
- Paid attention to the bracelet style, the watch face color, stuff like that.
Found some photos where it really looked like one of those classic steel sports models. Maybe a Daytona? Or sometimes something a bit dressier, possibly a Datejust? It’s hard to be 100% sure just from photos, especially when they aren’t official promo shots.
sponsorships can play a role too. Athletes often have deals, right? So sometimes they wear what the sponsor gives them. I looked around to see if he had any official watch partnerships mentioned anywhere obvious, but didn’t immediately find a current, heavily promoted one that explained all the watches I was seeing. Seemed like he might just actually like and own a few nice pieces.
So, that’s basically my process so far. Started with general curiosity, did a bunch of searching, sifted through photos, tried to match what I saw with known watch types, especially from that big ‘R’ brand that kept coming up. It’s kind of like detective work, but for watches. Still keeping an eye out for clearer pictures from recent tournaments!
