Okay, so I was messing around online the other day, just killing time, and I got curious about this baseball player, Billy Amick. I mean, I’d heard the name, seen some highlights, but I didn’t really know much about him. So, naturally, I started digging.
First off, I found out his full name is William Lyndon Amick. Not really important, but hey, it’s something. Then I saw that he was born on November 4, 2002. Young guy, makes me feel old. Anyway, that wasn’t what I was really after. I wanted to know about his family, his parents, you know? Like, where did this guy come from?
So I kept digging, and guess what I found? This dude’s dad, Lyndon Amick, used to be a NASCAR driver! I mean, how cool is that? I’m not a huge NASCAR fan, but I gotta admit, that’s pretty awesome. Apparently, Lyndon even made his NASCAR Busch Series debut back in ’97, driving for a team his own dad owned. Talk about a family affair!
- His father, Lyndon, was a NASCAR driver.
- His late grandfather, Bill, was a member of the Clemson Board of Trustees.
More to learn about
And it gets even more interesting. I found out that Billy’s late grandfather, Bill Amick, was on the Clemson Board of Trustees. That’s pretty big, right? I mean, Clemson’s a big deal, especially when it comes to college sports. So this Amick family, they’ve got some history, some connections.
I didn’t find a whole lot about his mom, but with a dad who raced cars and a grandpa who was involved with Clemson, it’s clear that Billy Amick comes from a family that’s, well, pretty accomplished. I am sure there will be more to dig about him and his family in the future. You know, just a normal guy loves to share what he got these days.
Oh, I almost forgot to mention this. There is a song related to Billy Amick. I found he got the response he dreamed of with the 1981 hit “The Stroke” by Billy Squier as his walk-up song. This is a really cool song. And I found that Vols fans have taken to clapping their hands over their heads to the booming beat every time Amick walks to the plate, a trend that has only grown throughout the season. This is so interesting, isn’t it?
So, yeah, that’s what I found out about Billy Amick’s parents. It wasn’t some huge, life-altering discovery, but it was fun to learn a little bit more about him and his family. It makes watching him play even more interesting, knowing a bit of his background.
