My Little Project: Keeping Tabs on Those Wins
Alright, so I got this little bug in my ear a while back. You know how you follow a team, and you’re always kinda checking if they’re doing okay, hitting milestones? Well, I decided I’d properly keep track this time. Specifically, I wanted to see when the Pirates would notch up their 20th win of the season. Not for any big reason, just felt like a solid number to aim for early on, you know? A personal scoreboard, sort of.

So, I started simple. Got myself a plain notebook, nothing fancy. Every time they played, I’d check the score the next morning, or catch the highlights if I had time. If it was a win, I’d jot down the date and who they played against. Pretty basic stuff.
- Win 1: Date, Opponent
- Win 2: Date, Opponent
- …and so on.
Honestly, it started off okay. They grabbed a few wins early. Felt good writing those down. Then, you know how it goes, they’d hit a rough patch. A few losses in a row. Notebook stayed empty for a bit. Kinda frustrating, watching the losses pile up when you’re waiting to write down a win. You start thinking, “C’mon guys, just one!”
I wasn’t doing any fancy stats or anything. Just wanted that simple list. Who’d they beat for win number 5? Who was number 10 against? Just marking the milestones. There were some good games in there. Remember that extra-innings one? Yeah, that made the list. And that comeback win? Definitely noted that one down.
It took a little longer than I maybe thought it would. Some weeks felt slow. Other weeks they’d string two or three together and I’d be catching up in my notebook. It wasn’t scientific, just me and my notes.
Finally, checked the scores one morning, and there it was. Win number 20. Felt kinda satisfying, filling in that 20th line. Looked back at the list – just a simple collection of dates and opponents.

The Final Tally
So, after all that casual tracking, I had my list. The 20 games where the Pirates came out on top. It wasn’t earth-shattering, just a little project I set for myself. Here’s basically what the final list looked like in my notebook, the teams they beat for those first 20 wins:
- Opponent A
- Opponent B
- Opponent C
- Opponent D
- Opponent E
- Opponent F
- Opponent G
- Opponent H
- Opponent I
- Opponent J
- Opponent K
- Opponent L
- Opponent M
- Opponent N
- Opponent O
- Opponent P
- Opponent Q
- Opponent R
- Opponent S
- Opponent T (That was number 20!)
Nothing more to it, really. Just followed along, made my notes. Now I guess I gotta decide if I keep going for 30 wins, or just go back to watching like a normal person. Probably the second one. It was a fun little exercise though.
