Alright, let’s jaw about them white cornerbacks in the NFL, you know, the football fellas.
I heard some folks sayin’, “Where them white cornerbacks at? Ain’t none left?” Well, hold your horses, ’cause there might be a few still runnin’ around out there on that there field.
Now, I ain’t no expert, but I watch them games sometimes, ya know, when the chores are done and the cows are fed. And I see all them fellas, big and small, fast and… well, some ain’t so fast. But they’re all out there tryin’ to catch that there ball and stop the other fellas from runnin’ wild.
- The Speed Thing: Them cornerbacks, they gotta be quick, like a chicken chasin’ a bug. Gotta be able to turn and run and keep up with them speedy wide receivers.
- The Smart Thing: It ain’t just about speed, though. Gotta be smart too, gotta know where the other fella’s gonna go, gotta read his mind, like you read the weather signs.
I reckon it don’t matter much if you’re white, black, or purple, long as you can play ball. But seems like there ain’t too many white cornerbacks startin’ these days. Don’t know why that is. Maybe them young white fellas are playin’ somethin’ else, like… I dunno… golf?
I remember back in the day, there was a few more, or maybe my memory’s just playin’ tricks on me. Time does that, ya know. Makes things seem different than they were. But now, you mostly see them other fellas, the ones with the… uh… the… well, you know what I mean. They’re good, real good, them fellas. Fast and strong and smart.
But like I said, it ain’t about the color of your skin, it’s about whether you can play ball. Can you catch that ball? Can you stop the other fella? That’s what matters.
Now, there’s this fella, Ahmad Gardner, I heard some folks talkin’ about him. He ain’t white, but he’s a cornerback, and a darn good one from what I hear. Folks are sayin’ he’s one of the best. Got lots of votes, or somethin’ like that. Shows you, it ain’t about the color, it’s about the playin’.
So, if there ain’t too many white cornerbacks startin’ right now, maybe there will be more later. Maybe them young fellas are out there trainin’ right now, gettin’ faster and stronger, learnin’ all the tricks. You never know.
The Future of White Cornerbacks: Maybe this year, maybe next year, we’ll see more white cornerbacks in the NFL. Maybe some young fella will come along and surprise us all. Wouldn’t that be somethin’?

- Gotta be tough.
And it don’t matter if you’re white, black, or polka-dotted, if you got them things, you can play ball. That’s what I think, anyway.
It’s like plantin’ a garden. You gotta prepare the soil, plant the seeds, water ’em, and take care of ’em. And then, if you’re lucky, and the weather’s good, you’ll get a good crop. Same with football, I reckon. You gotta train hard, learn the game, and then, if you’re lucky, and you got the talent, you’ll make it to the top. And maybe, just maybe, you’ll be a white cornerback in the NFL.
It all sounds like hard work to me, and them boys better be eatin’ their vegetables to keep up their strength. I always told my boys, eat your greens if you wanna grow big and strong. Guess that applies to football fellas too.
Anyway, that’s just my two cents on the matter. I ain’t no expert, like I said, but I know what I see. And I see a whole lotta fellas out there playin’ their hearts out, no matter what color they are. And that’s a good thing, I reckon.
So, we’ll just have to wait and see what happens. Maybe we’ll see more white cornerbacks in the future, maybe we won’t. But one thing’s for sure, the game will go on, and them fellas will keep on playin’. And that’s somethin’ to be thankful for.
