Saw some news about Triple H and Stephanie McMahon the other day. You know, the big shots over at WWE. It got me thinking a bit.

I always kinda watched how they operated. A real power couple, right in the thick of a huge company. On TV, they played these characters, but behind the scenes, they were running stuff too. Looked like a tight ship, from the outside anyway.
Reminded Me of Something
It actually brought back this memory from an old place I worked at. Nothing fancy like wrestling, just a regular office job. We had this manager pairing, let’s call them Dave and Lisa. They weren’t family like HHH and Steph, but they ran our whole department together.
Everyone thought they were this super-efficient team. Always finishing each other’s sentences in meetings, presenting this really unified front. Looked solid.
But man, trying to actually work on a project under them was something else. I remember this one time, I got assigned this task, needed input from both of them. Simple enough, right? Nah.
My process started straightforward:

- First, I went to Dave, got his instructions. Clear enough, I thought.
- Started working, then Lisa called me in. Gave me totally different directions. Said Dave’s approach was outdated.
- Okay, so I adjusted. Went back to Dave just to double-check. He got annoyed Lisa changed things, told me to stick to his original plan but add a ‘few’ more things.
- Then Lisa found out, came over, and basically scrapped half the work I’d done following Dave’s ‘updated’ plan.
It was wild. I spent more time going back and forth between them, trying to figure out who was actually in charge, than doing the actual work. Felt like being stuck in the middle of some weird power play. Lots of closed-door meetings between them, but to the rest of us? Confusion.
Eventually, I just cobbled together something based on what made the most sense from both their inputs. Handed it in and braced myself. Luckily, the higher-ups liked it, and Dave and Lisa just presented it like it was smooth sailing all along.
So yeah, seeing stuff about Triple H and Stephanie, running things together at the top, just made me remember Dave and Lisa. How things look on the surface isn’t always how they work day-to-day when you’re in the trenches trying to get stuff done. It’s a whole process you don’t see.
